So Will Star 94 Edit the Music on Seacrest?

Earlier this year, Star played artists such as Flo Rida and Kanye West during midday. Now, for every Rob Thomas song played by Q100 in midday, Star 94 plays Snow Patrol.

Star 94 has edited songs out of AT-40 and replaced them with "a special request from Dunwoody." Will some of the music on Seacrest's new midday show be deleted?

I don't know who from Star 94 has been paling around with someone from B98.5, but that Snow Patrol disease is apparently contagious.

The Seacrest show doesn't necessarily come with music. The brass at Star has total freedom to program whatever music they want in between Seacrest's breaks.

Q100 takes the cake when it comes to "Chasing Cars." They play some awful edit that dumps the entire first verse for no reason whatsoever. I heard it again when I was there in December. And if Star played Snow Patrol for every Rob Thomas/MB20 song on Q..."Chasing Cars" would be a power.

Are you saying Seacrest announces no songs, has no connection to the music on the show?

Technically, that would be correct. Now, they include a package of identifiers that you can produce or throw onto the intro or outro of a song - simply Ryan saying "Britney Spears' "Womanizer'" and you can follow it however you like. I will say that I was streaming Z100/NY and it sounded like he had customized some song ID's specifically for them, although it's plausible that a) they were just very well-produced and/or b) Z only gets that benefit since it's market #1 and if they're going to syndicate there, they'd damn well better do it correctly.

That is correct. They way that I understand it, Star will receive the content portions of Seacrest's show and then they will do the edit work cutting them into the proper breaks, and then will inject the content in around spots and music. And, as was said, there is a bank of indentifiers for songs that can be drawn from.

I think this is one of the reasons Tripp West wouldn't want to do the gig because it's basically a lot of prod. The jock would have a regular shift from 10 - Noon and during that shift, the Seacrest feeds from his show that AM in LA would be coming in and that jock would be responsible for editing those breaks down and putting them in for the Noon - 3 block.
