I think the oldest song Cat Country used to play was The Devil Went Down To Georgia, but don't think they play it anymore. I used to think a modern country station could mix in older stuff like Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, the better known artists who had crossover appeal.....but I'm not sure anymore in this market. Very few of Cat Country's listeners, or the listeners they target, grew up on country music. It might be different in New Hampshire, as I've heard The Wolf, but it would be difficult to differentiate in this market and not alienate younger listeners when it comes to country.

Country is the number #1 music format right now. What is the possibility Cumulus would force feed the Brine Shrine to pick up this National Country network if that is actually a plan.

I take this back...on their website they have a country network

Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson aren't considered part of what Country is now...Rogers is a Christmas Concert Act, while Willie is seen by people under 35 as some guy who smokes a lot of weed..

There was a time when that was not the case, but things change..

Country Acts have a shelf life of about five years..then its on to another generation of artists, whose boobs are bigger, belt buckles shinier, whatever keeps the cash flowing...

Boy are wrong..........reba Mcentie, who is still red hot music and action, kix brooks, garth brooks the list goes on and on....

Reba hasn't had a hit in over 3 years, Kix Brooks has never cracked the top 40 U.S. Country Airplay, and Garth Brooks hasn't had a hit in over 5 years. I'd hardly call them big stars of country radio right now, or for a few years now.
