Soft AC to a harder AC

Indeed. Jerry Lee had a sense for when a brand had lost peak value. Imagine these boards existing when they moved from EZ to B. It was the right call. B to More was just fine. The move back…that felt like a meaningless move. There was nothing backing it up.

The ratings suggest More FM was an overwhelming success.
It was on point musically, I just thought the name was a little over the top. Was any reason ever given for the switch back to B?

Given that almost every radio is digital now, Audacy/Entercom likely wanted to keep using 101.1 in the branding while using the more familiar B moniker.

I'm surprised WBEB still uses those tags at the end of the songs.

iHeart has plenty of options with 106.1 as AC, it is a flexible format. I think after the past changes they've had on that frequency since the mid-2000s they're probably happy with the performance, they just need to get the numbers up in the 35-54 demo without alienating the entire audience from when the soft AC format first launched which can be done. Perhaps they will be content with lower numbers just to bring WBEB down a bit (seems to be Audacy's point of WTDY). The music may change but I can't see iHeart moving away from AC on 106.1 anytime soon.

Totally agree. I think they're committed to the format but they're obviously tweaking it to get some younger listeners while remaining softer than B101.1. I would imagine the only newer and/or more upbeat songs they're adding are ones that text extremely well with the demo they're trying to reach.

This might actually be a good year to go all-Christmas. It demonstrably gets incredible listenership and while they have more people listening, they could run promos with clips of their usual format. There's probably a good chunk of B101.1 listeners who would enjoy The Breeze but haven't been given a reason to try it out.
