Software defined radio located in the Netherlands

Sunday night 10:30PM - 11:00PM

Identified 1140/CBI from Nova Scotia using their internet stream. Just above threshold, but only for short periods of time.

They are 10KW at night, and their night pattern is favorable for reception in Holland.

Kenglish. I would think 820/KUTR 2.5KW signal would best be received in Scandinavian countries, and then only using the right antenna and receiver combination, plus a seaside location.

Following up, if this clip of "I Am Radio. Mediumwave. I Am Radio" on 1350 is to be believed, it's a pirate based in Milano, Italy and has been heard in Finland. http://youtu.be/7nkRX4a8clk
Great investigative work! That is definitely the station. They haven't been on lately, at least when I tuned in.

The "sun disturbance" is affecting things. 189 Iceland is pretty strong right now, and on 1602 I am hearing what I presume to be a low power BBC station under Spain, plus, what I'm thinking is a 10KW Egypt station playing music but only able to surface for brief seconds. The BBC station is .25KW & about 300 miles from Enschede, while Egypt is about 1800 miles.

BTW, there is a poster on the chatbox named mushi mushi, who answers questions without and attitude. I assume it isn't you. :)

Edit: I verified the BBC station BBC Radio Kent. There is a pretty strong signal on 1510Khz tonight. 10:58PM EST.

No I haven't been on the chatbox lately. I'll look up mushi mushi. I guess this 1350 may be a legitimate Italian broadcaster, seems to be a huge signal for a pirate. They were on the air last night. Last week when we had some sunspots, I noticed instead of the usual triumvirate on 1548 (Gold, Forth 2 and Magic), I had Gold in the clear.

Hadn't checked in on this site in a while. Man, the AM stations are dropping like flies, especially on longwave, but on the medium as well.

Germany has ceased broadcasting on it's 153, 177 & 207 KHZ frequencies, plus several MW frequencies as well. More may also be closed.

Bulgaria closed down its 261 KHZ frequency, so that frequency is now empty throughout the world. They have also shut down all but one MW station.

Russia is dropping most of its MW stations.

At least in Europe, AM is a dinosaur.

Some good DX opportunities remain from the reciever, but yes it's getting a bit quiet. Maybe we'll get TAs from North America yet
