If you mean for DX, where you (and I for that matter) live, Aurora DX is rare to non-existent.
Now around Jan. 2 to 5 is supposed to be a major meteor shower. What you really need to try to catch anything is this, which I purchased:
www.totalrecorder.com (I cannot recall which version I bought, but it's fine for me)
You run a cord from your earphone jack to your PC, set your FM to an unused frequency (not one that IBOC is covering!!), set the volume level, press the red REC button on the PC, then go out shopping or working or whatever. (I myself don't like to leave the PC on more than 3 to 4 hours though.) When you return, stop the recording, and review what you heard. The thing on the Total Recorder screen will look like an EKG in hospitals....the "peaks" are where sound came up.
Note: Meteor Scatter DX is not very common, and although you might hear "blips" of sound, the odds of catching an ID are very very low. However if you hear a familiar song, note the time of day it played (always note what time you started the recording), and check the song on
www.yes.com --- you might see a match. (I myself don't really count yes.com matches, but YMMV.)
