Solar Flares - Auroras

MarioMania said:
How do they affect the AM band?? I missed it this past weekend

Did FM get effect it too??

I think they help propagation from the equatorial regions on AM. Possibly on FM too as CD in Florida heard a lot of e-skip from South America.
I'm sure others know more than I.

I had possible aurora on AM 8/06, KCBS 740 was in with a fair signal, CBX nowhere to be found. On 590, KUGN-OR was in with very little or no sign of usual KQNT Spokane, WA.

I only scanned around, and in the few minutes I listened CBX was NOWHERE on 740. KCBS had a traffic report, so it must have been at a time ending with 8. This was around 9:30PM or so on Sat the 6th.
