SOLD: WOCA-AM Ocala Florida

Sold by Tampa, Florida based Westshore Broadcasting, Inc. (Ron Roseman, Ed Roseman, Mike Smith) to Orlando, Florida based Generations Broadcasting Corporation for undisclosed price and terms. WOCA operates with 5kw daytime and 33 watts nighttime on AM 1370 and programs a News-Talk format. Mark Tillery of J. M. Tillery & Associates, P. A. represented the Buyer and assisted in the negotiations in this transaction.

Good to hear another small AM stays alive. Hope you got them a good deal on it.

If they keep their focus on Ocala, they should do just fine. WSKY now has a local signal in Ocala, but they really don't target Ocala or Marion Co. They can't, since they're based in Alachua Co. WOCA can survive by being local, local, local.

You are absolutely correct, and that is what I am advising the new owner. We are "re-working" the woca.com website and soon will stream the audio, including Rush, online in addition to expanding programming choices with the hours of operation going to 24/7. We already have a new online marketing website independent of the main station site. The response from the community has been very positive.

Thank you, OK. The new owner got an outstanding deal.

I understand congratulations are in order for you. I read a recent press release stating you are becoming GM/GSM with WLBE Leesburg. WLBE is a good local station, and you should do well there. I wish you the best. When do you start?

I am there now - full programming flip on August 1. Big signal, good facility, good owners - should work pretty well.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia, did you get the satellite receiving equipment all set and installed?

WKIQ will be running spanish programming from Rama. Mac will be retiring in the near future.
