Those poor markets! Get ready for hours upon hours of joint relief, anti-aging, get rich quick and snake oil "programming." Remember Sinclair was the corporation that tried to end local news as we know it with "News Central."

How does that differ from what these stations are airing now?

WJAC and WTOV are both long-established network affiliates in smaller markets. I suspect they may
have an easier time of it than other Sinclair stations.

WJAC in particular is a powerhouse over all of the West Central region inclding Johnstown, Altoona, DuBois and some of Westmoreland County. A lot of rural viewers still rely on over-the-air antenna TV, and they are still "serving millions from atop the Alleghenies...".

Steubenville probably pulls most of its revenue out of the Wheeling market. And speaking of Wheeling, WTRF for the last couple of years has been using its digital sub-channels to be an affiliate for CBS, ABC and Fox simultaneously (one of the largely overlooked benefits of digital TV for smaller markets).

At my father's vacation home that is the only station he can get after the digital transition.

WTOV has had some lineup changes lately. Kate Davisson (sp) is replacing Erica Mokay from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., joining a girl who's been with them for only a short time. Ms Mokay is going up the food chain to host at, I believe, 5 p.m. I need to check to see what Natalie Herbick's status is; hopefully she's still at the station.

I'm wondering if some folks are movin' on up-and out-in anticipation of Sinclair's arrival. I'm really hoping that 'TOV doesn't go the 'bean-counter' route, similar to their neighbors to the south. Their news is top-notch.

Thanks for the info about Natalie, Jim! I caught her last show online, and she seemed genuinely appreciative toward everyone at WTOV. Usually outgoing folks say where they're going, or a co-worker does, but nobody did, so thanks again about Natalie. By the way, channel 9's news is the only news source that wifey allows. ;D

In a related note, I kinda figured that Jeff Bowers would be leaving eventually to be with his fiancee'. Leaving WDTV to go to WTOV must have seemed like a quantum leap for him, and he progressed during his tenure.
