Some actual My Network TV ratings!

Looks like the stations that joined My Network TV is better off than the stations that joined CW in the long run.

In terms of national primetime viewing, probably. It wouldn't surprise me if CW stations are more profitable affiliates on average, though (local news and sports). I have no source to back that up, though.

In Charlotte, the My Network station and the CW station are a duopoly. Recently they moved the 10:00 news (produced by WBTV) from the CW station to the My Network station.

In Hartford/New Haven, Tribune Broadcasting, Inc. owns WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61 of Hartford and has an LMA to operate WCCT-TV (CW) channel 20 of Waterbury. My guess that Tribune's involvement with CW is why WCCT-TV is a CW affiliate. It's also likely why channel 20's affiliation was switched from UPN to WB on January 1, 2001. As for news, WCCT-TV replays the 10 pm newscast from WTIC-TV at 1 am.

LIN TV Corporation owns WTNH-TV (ABC) channel 8 of New Haven and has an LMA to operate WCTX-TV (MY) channel 59 of New Haven. MY programming is frequently preempted on WCTX due to New York Yankees baseball games from WWOR-TV on the station. As for news, WCTX-TV airs a 10 pm newscast produced by WTNH-TV.

As for the programming on MY itself, they'll impress me when they start airing their own shows. The same goes for ION.

But that's the point: they both struggled with original programming and have found success with reruns. Why tinker with success?

It's very much a second-run syndication model, with a national branding package for the stations which are essentially independent otherwise. If it works, then I say leave it as is.
