Some ex-WBCN weekenders now WZLX weekenders

I heard former WBCN weekender Juanita on WZLX Saturday morning, followed by former WBCN weekender Amy Brooks in mid-day. I didn't catch who was on later.

Have any other former WBCN jocks been moved to WZLX this past week? I know that the local rock show Nocturnal Emissions currently hosted by Angelle Wood moves to WZLX Sunday evenings, but she was already doing shifts on WZLX while doing that show on 'BCN.

And, who at WZLX unfortunately lost out? I thought Kim Collins had been on Saturday mornings, is she still on there somewhere?

That would be Boston Emissions, not Nocturnal Emissions.

Two different shows. Nocturnal Emissions was the new music show while Boston Emissions was the local music show. For many years they followed each other on Sundays.

Bradley Jay is going to be on WZLX too. I wouldn't mind if they had regular jocks on in the morning instead of K&M. I know it won't happen, for some reason people enjoy them.

Since WBCN was a union shop, I know they were paying their jocks $25-$50/hr for their shifts. It would be a rough transition to slide to WZLX for whatever they are paying.... $10/hr? Minimum wage? That barely covers your expenses getting into the studio. Tough to swallow a pay cut like that.

Hey, while Bradley's talent is suspect at best, I'm sure CBS will do a great job of destroying WZLX with or without him. Just give them time.

Totally different. Nocturnal was Oedipus' baby.

Wasn't that "Nocturnal TRANSmissions"? (A play on words, not the actual "naughty phrase.)

Nope, it was always Nocturnal Emissions. And technically it's not naughty because it's the scientific term...

WZLX has been a joke of a station for at least a decade. Typical classic rock station on autopilot. Nothing to kill there.

As for Bradley, I thought he did some cool mixes and had a good style back in the late 80s when he was the night jock. I can't vouch for how he did when the station went "active," but he was a good jock way back when. He also did well selecting that last song, and picking good tunes for the last show. (Must say, though, his decision to use his itunes, complete with the mail "inbox chime" sounding ON THE AIR, was a terrible one. Geesh, use the damn turntable to play Pink Floyd!.......Did BCN even have a turntable though, LOL!)

Bradley Jay is talented enough do anything he wants in radio! He's terrific between over-played songs, he sounds pleasant & intelligent on WBZ-AM, and he does real DJ stuff with his mixes. He'd be great paired-up with a "sports guy" for a weekend shift on The Hub.

P.S. Thanks! Your thoughtless comment needed to be refuted so badly that I just registered to do so. Maybe you can get a job with radio-info driving memberships, as your vitriol indicates the lack of a good radio job!

Ha, no...

Judging it more on aesthetic grounds.

Are they still getting ratings in Boston, even amongst people under 40? Classic rock is dead out here in LA. (Grew up in Boston - hence the interest in BCN....)

Hey Deadair, dont confuse opinion for vitriol because you disagree. As for Bradley J on WBZ fm: he is worse there than he was on 'BCN with his pathetic "sex palace" routine. That was begining of the end for 'BCN. Youre right, he does sound "pleasant" on 'BZ but NO depth of issues and BORING. Also showing up there is further proof he is no Rock guy, just radio hack! How is that for vitriol?!

They are not super strong under 40, but doing well - better than a lot of Classic Rock stations. PPM has been good to WZLX.
