Some help with 990, please.

I was doing a little DXing yesterday and caught Sean Hannity on 990 at about 5:20 pm EST, which would have been 2:20 PST. After checking Radio-Locator and clicking on links to station web sites, the only news/talk station on 990 I could find that carries Hannity, and at that time, is KTMS Santa Barbara, CA. I am in Cincinnati. This would seem like quite a catch since the KTMS daytime signal is 5kw directional with only a small lobe to the northeast.

Anyone know of any other stations that air Hannity during that time? If not, this would be my first California catch here in Cincinnati since back in the 70s when I used to get KFI and KNBR regularly. Also caught 1110 KRLA and 1580 KDAY from LA way back when. I'm particularly proud of those two considering their directional patterns.

Here's one possibility, from Western Pennsylvania: www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WNTW&service=AM&status=L&hours=D (day pattern)

Looks like they simulcast with WNTJ Johnstown, whose website says they carry Hannity from 4-7PM. In January WNTW is supposed to go to their nighttime power of 100 watts at 5:15; if they were on night power when you heard them that's a pretty good catch: www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WNTW&service=AM&status=L&hours=N

Thanks for the help. I can't find a web site for KFCD, but I did google WNTJ since Radio-Locator doesn't have a link to their web site. And their program schedule does in fact say they carry Hannity and that they simulcast on 990 WNTW Somerset, PA. I'm inclined to think it was probably them. Stations in the Pittsburgh area are pretty easy catches here in Cincy.

Thanks again to both of you for the suggestions. I thought KTMS seemed rather unlikely.

Hannity's website lists AM 990 WEEB in Southern Pines NC. Given this was late afternoon you may have picked that up on skip. WEEB is 10kw non-directional daytime and they probably step down power not long after that. Conditions may have been perfect for that skip. The Knoxville station is sports talk so it definitely wasn't them.

Hmmm, that's another good possibility. At the time keys2 was listening WEEB should have been on their critical hours power level (5,000 watts, non-directional). A check of the FCC's AM database shows their scheduled time to reduce to nighttime power (26 watts) is at 5:30 this month.
