Some info about TV station based in Galesburg

Remember the TV station licensed to Galesburg that was supposed to have signed on in 2001 but blocked by KLJB-TV? Well, I have found some new info on that station. First, the initial data about the station: It was supposed to have broadcast on channel 53 and affiliated with UPN--too late for Star Trek Voyager but would've carried Enterprise, Smackdown, and other UPN shows as well as telecasts of local sports teams such as the Steamwheelers. Now, the update: You can visit rabbitears.com and search for TV stations in any market. That station--known as 951215KK--apparently plans to air on DTV 8 (or 53-1) as an independent station. The station is also recognized on W9WI.com. (Click on Illinois and look for the stations alongside Galesburg.)

Here are some programming suggestions for the un-named channel:
-Roseanne (previously carried by KGCW)
-DIC Kids Network [E/I]; 60 min. (currently not on any QC station)
-Most shows distributed by The Program Exchange (a few currently air on WQAD)

This is a real hope for those of us who want this station on the air!

Galesburg? You got plenty of Paul & Jan.

W50BY (Channel 50; GALESBURG, IL; Owner: TRINITY BROADCASTING NETWORK)

Don't find 53.

UPDATE: CP expires this summer

The good news: The FCC rejected the petition for reconsideration filed by Grant Broadcasting (owner of KLJB and KGCW) that kept channel 53 off the air all this time (it was supposed to sign on in 2001).

The bad news: Channel 53's CP (no known call letters at this time) expires later this year, and would have to move to a new channel (lower than 52)....
