SOME INFO YOU WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!

Where I am going to school at we have the latest editon of Bacon's Guide which has the radio station directory for all radio stations and I found some amazing information that I would like to share and see if can understand somethings better about certain radio stations especially WKQL Kool 100.7

Well for one here is what is listed in the directory for certain things about WKQL:

One is the Am Drive-Time is listed correctly as Mike Areford
also Mike Areford is the Music Director at KOOL
Next Tom Murphy is listed at the Midday talent
then Briggs as the PM Drive-time talent.

Now also there target for Arbtrion (excuse spelling0 is 35 to 64 and what is showing for that group they are pulling it off very well but i will not give the exact number away since it is not allowed.

Also was Tom orignally hired to do mid-days on KOOL or what?? Maybe wcrzx can answer this one since i would like to know also.

Was that the listing suppose to have been like that for talent on Kool with Tom doing mid-days instead. This is intresting. So we now know who handles the Music Director duties at Kool.

Now also it listed Kool as broadcasting at 100,000 watts but i thought it was 62,000 watts. Are they planning to go a full 100,000 watts or what???

Maybe we can figure out what Kool is really up to...We just know things have to improve from a listner standpoint.

Mburg, I really love your enthusiasm but I just don't understand why you continue to see things the way you do.

Let's just look at the facts. In the latest book, the Arf lost even a little more ground in 25-54 and AM Drive on KOOL is the weakest daypart. And so Renda leads the station with the weakest link. Brilliant. And if the Arf is the music director, it makes sense to reward him with a key position given his track record over the years. The Arf is a nightmare! When I think of the real talent that is pounding the streets looking for their next gig, this just blows me away.

Briggs is a programming idiot and yet he is retained. If he were an employee of Clear Channel or Cox Radio, do you honestly believe he would have lasted this long? If KOOL was put together properly last March and programmed by someone who had experience and success in the oldies format, do you honestly believe they would still be an "also-ran" station?

The line-up you speak of may have been in the plan but WSOS needed at least one live body and so Renda does what it does very well - moves problems from one station to another. WSOS did not not even show up in the latest book. Let the facts speak for themselves.

And finally when you use the word "talent," it only applies to Tom Murphy.

It's a Brunswick signal with holes in parts of the metro.

It's doing better than ARROW did, so likely Renda is satisfied. This signal is not adequate to be a top-tier station in Jax.

Mburg, before you get too excited about what you read in Bacon's, I'd like to inform you that the info in that directory is only as reliable as the person that submitted it. If you look at the info on other stations you'll probably find a mistake here and there.

Someone was either guessing about the correct wattage of 100.7 or was just dreaming. As for the line-up, it may look better if you can show a persons name in every daypart rather than just putting in "jockless". It makes you look....small time.

No further comment is necessary.

Read Johnradiofan's post below. He's not even in the radio biz and he "gets it".

The big question has yet to be asked......

How's the billing since the switch to KOOL?

There's your measuring stick.

Good one Randy on this one...Thanks Pat for the insight, so only Bacon's will show what someone puts in for the info. Now for the billing there has to be a chance that it is actually higher then what Arrow made for 2004. We will proabaly know by May what the station actually made but I would bet anything that the billing is over a million dollars or close two million. That could say improvement at the station.

For Pat, any thing yet on a new job anywhere as a PD? Heck I would just give Renda a call and tell them hey you want to be the PD at Kool but I know it is their game with the station and they are just being rentless when comes to programming. Now I just wish they had a mid-day jock......also how about a night time jock or even using Tom Kent's Hall of Fame Coast To Coast to fill in that spot at least......midnight jock proablay not the best idea since no one really listens in that time frame....and some marketing FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!! Goodness. Also how about a little rotation on that RDS read out....There is other information to put on it as well you know!!!! Just pray Renda comes through with a miracle somewhere about the programming!!!!!

or otherwise i see them going to a Variety Hits format in the near future no matter what the billing is!!!!! Heck they just bought another station in Pittsburgh making the totatl amount of stations to 25 now.

Your observation should only be as simple as it sounds! It's certainly not that I haven't applied for the job.

You don't want to pay money to market when you can't deliver the goods. And right now, the goods aren't there.

It has to be better than Arrow, but a far cry from what Cool 96.9 used to bill every month. A brighter future is there, and opportunity has certainly knocked, but no one wants to bother answering the door.

FYI: The Eagle still hasn't surpassed Cool 96.9 in monthly billing.

If it's true, I'd like to think it's because my wife and her morning show partner aren't there anymore raking in the dough with their full endorsement schedules... :)

It's really nice to see you on here, Pat! As they'd say, "we wish you luck in your future endeavors!" ;)

Did anyone let the morning show know what the new door code is?

Seeing how I just heard them skip a break, I'm guessing not that great.

Nothing like hearing two sweepers back to back at :20 after!
