Some interesting calls

I had during hurricane Rita.

Caller:"I want to register a complaint!"
Me: "Against who?"
Caller: "The power company, the power is off and I paid my bill".
(This is during a period of 50mph sustained winds gusting to 80mph amd raining so hard you couldn't see)

Caller: "I have a question."
Me: "Go ahead"
Caller: "Do you know when they'll have the power back on to 211 Maple Street?"

Caller: "Do you know when the cable is going to be back on?"
**I just hung up**

My personal favorite:

(Keep in mind the ONLY station on the air in the region was my Classic Rock station)

Caller: "Yeah, ya'll need to quit playin' this rock and roll and play some gospel!"
Me: "Maam, that's the format of the station, we don't-"
Caller (cutting me off): "Look, this is the only station on the air!"
Me: "Yes maam"
Caller: "Well, I don't like this music"
Me: "Ma'am, I can't change the music"
Caller: "Well ya'll are a bunch of SINNERS and you're going to HELL!!!

Those are pretty funny bro. At one point in time 85% of Rapides Parish was out of power and people were calling US to find out when their power is going to be back on....like they're the ONLY HOUSE IN TOWN that has no power...and we have control over it.

We were taking calls LIVE on the air...people talking about the conditions in their area, powerlines down, wher to find ice, gas...and here comes some hick inbred...

LA: Hi, you're on the air...how's things in your area?
Caller: THEY SUCK....PLAY US SOME OF DAT 'OLE HANK JUNIOR!

Another Call

LA: LA103.5...you're on the air...
Caller: It's raining at my house and the wind is blowing kinda hard....

SOME PEOPLE!

Jessme...I am sure you guys rocked over there! Hope all is well!

Caller: "Do you know when the cable is going to be back on?"

We took calls all through the storm, Saturday, only having to swap from our main xmitter to our backup a coupla times, so we got calls from ALL over the central Louisiana area.

Some of my favorites...

1. "Is school cancelled tomorrow?" NOTE: This was asked QUITE often, in the MIDDLE of the storm, and on a SATURDAY, no less.

2. "Are they going to get our power back on anytime soon, or what?" NOTE: Again, in the MIDST of the heavy winds and rain... yeah, the ELECTRIC company is going out in the hurricane to put YOUR power back on, to HELL with their own safety and well-being.

3. With some area school systems cancelling school on a day-by-day basis, I just LOVE getting a call at 8am asking about the NEXT day's classes. I mean, really... we JUST got word about THAT day's classes late in the prior afternoon. Who would be IN an office at 8am to decide on the next day, as it is? Secondly, what difference does it make at 8am the day BEFORE, that you have to call the radio stations and ask 'em?

I swear, somewhere in the phone book, under "general information," radio station request lines are listed. They dial up, but they don't seem to TUNE IN.
