Some Major Award Shows could be in Jeopardy

Apparently, Tonight's People Choice Awards Ceremonies has already been a victim of the WGA Strike. Other award shows that could be in danger are The Golden Globe Awards, The SAG Awards, & The Academy Awards. All 3 are held in L.A., and most of these actors have already boycotted from going to these shows. NBC have already scaled back its Golden Globes Coverage from 3 Hours to just one. You won't be seeing the red carpet, or lavish parties that are held afterwards. These are tough times, and the writers need to go back to work.

As long as country music award shows (Academy of Country Music Awards in April) aren't affected by this, then I would be happy. Who would want to watch a bunch of screens showing the nominees and brief portions of the winners?

In flipping through the dial it looks like the People's Choice Awards is going with Queen Latifah reading the winners and tapes of some of the winners accepting their awards at some other site. Apparently there is no audience there. Not that I particularly care about seeing it, but I was curious about watching it for a few minutes to see how it would be handled. I guess that's what will be done on the other award shows. Actually this looks like a good way to keep doing award shows. This way any excessive rattling, foul language, or stupid political comments that the winners might make can be cut.

I definitely won't miss them. :p

I think The Grammies will be an exception because it falls into the music category; The rest falls into entertainment. Jon Stewart might not even host The Oscars next month, and it would take the same route NBC is taking for the Golden Globes. Right Now, The People's Choice Awards are held with no audience, no red carpet, and no jokes. Welcome to the cut-throat world of Non-Fictional TV.

No, they don't. They need to stand their ground. What the writers are asking for is not outrageous. It's the networks, studios et al being greedy jerks.

It's a good thing because many of these shows are in the can, ready to be shown. And many other LA-Based shows that were premiered in September, well they're running out of fresh All-New episodes. Also, movies that were shot before the strike, are now safe-for the time being. It's the shows that are based in NYC are the ones who are still continuing on to produce and shown, and those TV shows & Movies are now SAFE and they don't have to worry about The Strikers out there in L.A. The best place to do these shows happens to be in Canada. It's all about the money.
