Some More About Me

I wanted to try being a member of this site. I was on here for a while, over 10 years ago. I am most interested in the smaller stations. Some people think they're worthless. They're not. They are a part of a community. Since the time I was last on here, we really started losing them. I'm sure we will still have some in the distant future. My advice is, record as much as you can now. You never know when the plug will be pulled. I also love SDR's. There's still nothing like being there in person.

Enjoy the small stations and attempt to support as best as I can. Was a fan of WNAV under Pat Sajak and BMSC (?) but it's lost it's flavor for me since. Love my hometown radio station, while it is now owned by 7MM, I enjoy hearing the calls WCPA. Welcome back!

There's not much left (overall). The last few years (even during the colder months) have been a dud. I saw this coming for years. We should still be enjoying several options on the AM (and FM) dial.

Throughout my radio career, I have always found value in small town radio stations. Much easier to monetize than a major market AM or even small city AM. Now with translators, the AM can enjoy a small town resurgence. I work for such a station and we continue to set sales records annually. The ones that enjoy success strive to create programming that the community identifies as it's own and then is loyal to that station. I've worked several small market stations where you were the only one station or had only one local radio competitor.

SDR as in software defined radio?
