Some New Stuff That Caught My Ear

Hey guys. Plenty of new stuff has arrived in the mailbox of late, and I thought I would share my early impressions with you guys. Some tunes grab me right off the bat, some grow on me, and some eventually fall out of favor. But most of the time, my first impressions stick. Patrick Yandall's "The Window" is another solid effort from a very underrated San Diego-based guitarist. I see me adding a good number of cuts from that one. Also a couple real nice tunes off of Darren Motamedy's latest "Gruv' Horn," and I was pleasantly surprised the C.C Ryder release. A number of radio friendly mid-tempo cuts on that one. Heck, I even added a couple tunes from the upcoming Bombastic Meatbats release "More Meat." "For Your Courtesy" is quite nice.

OK...here are some obscure new cuts (as well as some older cuts I've heard for the very first time) that have caught my ear over the past few months.

Hoodoo - Jack Prybylski
Happy Mode - Eugene K
Nice Flight - Hattler
Rainbow - Espirito (just a crime this wasn't played on SJ radio...released in 2000)
Always Together - Jaared
Beauty Of Mine - Gretchen Lieberum (2005)
My Soldier - Gail Jhonson
Dreamer - Marc Antoine (an outstanding rendition to Claude Debussy's "Reverie")
Chill With The Reverend - 420 Cafe
Afterlife - Smooch
Through These Eyes - Noise Boyz
Dreams - Naoyuki Onda (1999 - a sensational Sunday morning cut)

I'll continue to add to this list on an ongoing basis as I hear more great stuff.

Huge thanks goes out to Cafe Jazz (Ted Hasiuk), Soundtraxx (Mark Stanley), Chilled Excursions (Angelica), The Future Of Jazz (Chris Nochowicz) and lastly the .wav for keeping this great music alive.

I love Hoodoo by Jack P
Joe Taylor's Accidental Sugar CD flew under my radar because the first few songs were generic smooth but dig deeper and there are two that have a Bernie Williams/Craig Chaquico feel and are really stron
Gondwanda and Chasing Moonbeans Tracks 6 and 7
