some questions about All Hit 98.9

Just found out about this station's fate a couple months ago and have some questions.
1. Is the new station CC launched on 101.3 similar to what that station would sound like if it were on the air today? I managed to grab an aircheck of the last 2 hours last night and they sounded pretty rhythmic. Would that station lean rhythmic today or be a mainstream similar to other CC CHRs like KBKS locally or KIIS Los Angeles?
2. Could CC have purchased WHTS and sold one of there lower profile stations? Thanks.

That is a loaded question. The format, in my opinion, should have been moved to 101.3 when the station was being sold, but the company let KBEA at 99.7 have their talent and just gave up on Top 40. B100 was more rhythmic sounding back them, so I doubt 101.3 would sound rhythmic now if it had been 98.9 switching frequencies.
Considering B100 is the number one station for Cumulus in town, I don't understand why this move wasn't made sooner. But anyways...

From what I understand, at that time of the sale, there were other companies outside the market that were willing to pay big money for that signal, more than EMF would have been able to give, (rumour was Radio One really wanted it). I am sure Cumulus could have been able to offer them more money to buy it and dump 93.5 or an AM signal off, but Clear Channel I'm sure had no intentions of letting that happen and giving them another powerful stick to compete against, hence the reason EMF has it now. And I am sure EMF probably wouldn't be willing to sell it now and switch with 93.5 since it is an inferior signal. I'm sure it is in the contract that they can't sell it for a certain number of years.

About EMF, it's usually 5 or 10 years. If it's 5, then EMF could sell it if they wanted to, as they've had it for approaching 7 years now. If it's 10, then they've got it for another almost 3 years. B100 was more rhythmic? Aside from Photograph and Dirty little Secret, the latter of which would have been most likely dropped to gold status already, most of the tracks on the aircheck I had were hip-hop based or older hits that they would not have played had they been staying around. Wonder why CC didn't call the current station All Hit 101.3? The current Kiss sounds similar to what WHTS would had it continued though?
