I think 98.7 The Peak is a great station. I like the 70s and 80s rock hits with a few MTV hits and some 90s and current stuff thrown in. I also think they've got great DJs.
1) I wonder why they shot up to #4 at one point and have fallen lately. Hey, being in the top 10 is NOT bad at all. But I'd like to see them continue to do well.
2) It's interesting that they have so many female DJs. Is this because the station is aimed more at women than men or did they just go out and find the best DJs and who cares what gender they are?
3) I also wonder why Mini Solis does the overnight five nights a week, apparently live, yet on weekends, there's no DJ in many dayparts. Why have a live DJ Tuesday at 4am but no DJ Sunday at 8pm?
4) I think Freddie Colon is great too. I hope they give him more shifts.
5) I notice the DJs talk over song intros, something that isn't common on most rock stations. Is this a good idea or not?
6) It seems they are trying to keep the tempo level up. So even though they play plenty of Rock/AC artists from the 70s, you don't really hear much Carole King, James Taylor, Chicago, America, Paul Simon, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, John Denver, Cat Stevens, etc., even though they were staples of rock formats in those days. Are these artist just considered too old or too soft, even for a station whose slogan is "70s, 80s, Whatever We Want"?
