Some Questions about WGY

Hi,
Does anyone have the CD that was made called the best of Paul Cassidy?
He was the weekend morning show host and a lot of fun. I really miss him
and was so shocked of his untimely passing. WGY's weekend morning show
has never been the same. I like Joe Gallagher as a person but his show is
well, lame I guess. Does anyone know what happened to Dave Greene?
He was on week nights and had the trivia show. That was a lot of fun.
You could win movie tickets, cookies and milk and other prizes. It was
just good old fashion fun radio. I liked Art Murphy too on the overnights.
He would always end his show with " I'm goin' to the couch". I was shocked
of his passing as well. That's all for now...
Thanks,
Rich

You forgot Doc Perryman's overnite jazz show Sat @ midnite and mid day host Elie Panchen,et al. Oh I just remenbered the Whats Cooking contest sponsored by Grand Union. Those were the days when WGY was live 24 hours a day. Now weekends are almost totally canned-pre-recorded.

Still lives in the area (right around the corner from me), retired from radio altogether after leaving WGY. Ran a landscaping business for years afterward. I used to listen to him back in the 80's as well.

That era was probably WGY's peak - local 'round the clock:
Don Weeks - 5:30 to 9am
Harry Downie - 9:00 to 11:50am
Paul Harvey - 11:50 to Noon
Extended newscast at Noon
Ellie Pankin - 12:30 to 3pm
Joe Gallagher (& Marge) - 3 to 7pm
Bob Cudmore / Contact - 7 - 11pm
Dave Greene's All Night Point Trivia - 11pm - 5am

Paul Cassidy & 'Johnny Williams' Saturday Night All Request Oldies Show on the weekends.

I was a point trivia player from the Spring of 1981 until July 1983. I played under the names "Alan from Nassau", "Alan from Spring Valley", "Spirit of '66", and "The Red Prince." I was the unofficial point trivia champion of 1982. At that time, the prizes were a dinner at The Cranberry Bog in Albany or a Polaroid camera. I was best known for getting the name "Peggy Ann Bradnick" on the air, sometimes in the form of puns, anagrams, acrostics, etc. Nobody but me remembered Peggy Ann back then. Dave Greene's Point Trivia program went off the air around 1986. Peggy Ann came back into the spotlight on May 6, 1991, with the release of the movie, "Cry in the Wild: The Taking of Peggy Ann", a pretty bad movie about her kidnapping in May 1966. She made a public appearance on October 16, 2008, at the Fulton County Fall Folk Festival in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania.

JR Gach

How about JR Gach? I love his humor. He did rock the boat quite a bit, but loved his afternoon show. Especially after 9/11.
