Hi guys, I'm in a rambling gambling kind of mood, so indulge me..
1)The Aircheck List: I'm disappointed by the response. I can count on two hands the number of people that have decided to do this. The whole idea is build up our network, and by doing so make life easier to find the airchecks we might not find otherwise. Contact some of your own sources, and tell them about this project, and email them the Aircheck List file I posted on YSI. If you need a copy, email me and I'll send it. I would like to have at least one source in each state when this project is done.

2)Kudos to Mike Workman for sending airchecks to his brother overseas! That's a wonderful thing to do! Mike, if your brother has friends in other units that don't get anything, why not get some info, post that you have other guys that want stuff, and let's "adopt" them for the holidays!

3)Trading:Currents VS Classic-What do you prefer? I like to get both, and in many cases with new traders, they don't have a lot to offer, so I'll visit Radio Locator, and visit the websites of stations in that market and see what stations/jocks I would like to get airchecks off. Then we have guys like Russ Wells, John Yanagi, Bob Gilmore,Lance Venta, and Gary Pheiffer who have amazing classic collections that I would like a ton of stuff from. In fact, thanks to Russ Wells for a great trade, he sent me some great stuff!

4)Christmas Airchecks: To me...BORING. Same songs over and over and over again. But I realize that many of you like it, and want it, so if you want some WLTW or WKJY, let me know. I will be posting some here when they flip.

5)If there is any ONE aircheck you don't have, but would like to have, what would it be? It can certainly be something that is in someone else's collection, or a hope that it exists.

Right! Thanks Matt for posting some of both. I like them all, including scoped versions of classics.
 
The one aircheck that I always wanted, I got a few years ago, and I think it was from Matt. It was the 1984 Halloween show with John Zacherle on WCBS-FM. I heard it when it was live, and I always wanted a copy. I finally got one about two years ago.

I prefer 70's airchecks.

Sending airchecks to our military folk is a good idea. When I was in
North Carolina a few years back, my co-host and I sent a program over
to the radio network and it was played to the military.

Please e-mail me a copy of the list. I can place it on a static link on either Radio-Info or RadioBB. Once I have some time, I can probably build a blog engine for anyone to post updates/interests.

I'm very close to getting active again. I have a lot of updating I need to do, but there are a few people I'd like to trade with as well.

I'd LOVE to find some of the big format changes of all time, but considering I don't have the time to add the 50+ changes I've accumulated this year alone, I guess that's a good thing right now.

...or WMPS! Absolutely nothing exists, even scoped, between 1964-1971.

My kingdom and several outlying duchies for that, or early FM-100!

Memphis was a terribly under-airchecked market. Some vintage 'HBQ exists, but not much of anything else.

It never hurts to dream. :-/

In fact, I offer this: several years ago I corresponded with a guy who recorded well over 100 reels' worth of Montgomery, Ala. radio in the 1967-75 time period. Some scoped, but a lot of it was unscoped and sparkling (taped off of a modified 1962 Chevy Delco radio). Most all of it was top-40, but there were a couple of MOR, country and soul tapes.

That is what keeps me going in my searches. If somebody in Montgomery, of all places, rolled that much tape ... certainly SOMEONE in Mempho - or elsewhere - did the same.

And thank you, Matt, for YOUR airchecks. The '77 St. Louis scan is in my car's player as I speak -- wonderful stuff!

Also, I put your current CDs in the mail this morning - Priority Mail, so maybe it'll take less than a month to get there. [g]

Here in Savannah, not one but TWO stations began all-Christmas formats on NOVEMBER 1! WYKZ 98.7 (The River - CC) and WLOW 107.9 (Triad-Adventure). It's not a big deal most of the time, as I never listen to those stations anyway; however, when I'm in a store playing either station on the PA .... @#$%@#$%&@#!

That's like asking a record collector the age-old "desert island" question.

If I have to isolate a station: WVOV 1000 / Huntsville, Ala., 1970-71. When I 'came of age' and discovered radio, it was one of my two favorites (the other being WSGN/Birmingham). TM Phase II jingles and one of the best audio chains in the Southeast.

I too thank Matt for setting this up. I need to get my info to him.

In the past year, I've kind of gotten away from very much aircheck swapping...as I have very limited interests: current smooth jazz/NAC stations, an occasssional small-town/tiny market station (regardless of format, satellite or local doesn't matter)....and older CKLW or KHJ airchecks from the RKO General/Drake era (60's/70's), and Y100/Miami during the 70's.

Also, I've tried 15 to 20 years to find a reliable trader in San Francisco, Denver, and Salt Lake City....with no luck. Still looking....LOL, hi, hi.
