Believe it of not, WURD was the strongest Philly AM signal in Newark Delaware, there was no sign of WWDB or WHAT, all the others were much weaker, including the mighty 1210. Why is this, WURD is suppossed to be nulled to the South, are they over 1kw-D and now putting a signal to the South. Also, there was a great Nostalgia station on 540, I thought at first it was the Long Island station, but when I came back to Philly they were still talk. Never heard the calls, seemed local, its great to hear that music on the dial again. I think the Philly market is the only large market that has no Nostalgia rim shot, NYC even has suburban WFAS.

While on Southbound I-95 headed to Newark, I also have heard a talk station on 540. Thought at first it was the station in Maryland near Salisbury, but I think that is quite a distance in the daytime.

Depending on what part of Newark you are in, WWDB can be non-existant or booming. But the WURD situation is impossible. They have far too strong a signal in all parts of Newark to be operating legally. Way stronger than the old WFLN-AM and its later versions. That station really needs a visit from the FCC.

They have been this way since Leaveas took over 5 years ago, they also make it to the shore with no problem. They are heard in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Reading, Wilmington, Trenton and points over a 60 mile radius, is this the way a 1kw-D-D should operate. At night, they also boosted their power/direction and can be heard in many parts of New Jersey and Delaware. When they were WFLN and had the three tower array, they never made it past the airport, they are definitely not within the FCC laws, but hey its a (Quote) "Station for the Community", so the FCC will and must back off. Same with the pirate WSKR at 97.7, which interferes with the Hawk, they have a website, phone numbers and sponsors, nothing has been done to them in years. I do believe the FCC is a bias organization, which hunts down certain people and lets the others go. BTW, there was no sign of WAMS-1260 in Newark.

The Nostalgia station on 540 is in MD and has the calls WGOP. WLUX, the 540 on LI, went biz/talk, got a daytime power increase, and was recently sold. Starboard Communications bought it and will be running
Catholic programming.

They must be operating from their new Xmtr site and COL, to reach Newark. I checked their website, their format is listed as Country. Maybe they just flipped to Standards, in tune with the new location. I'll see if anyone on the MD board knows anything.
