some thoughts i had

hey guys. i just wanted to toss some ideas out on heer to see what people thought. on friday, cox in tampa flipped 101.5 the point to hot 101.5 to take on haritage top 40 93.3 flz. do you think cox would ever do that here? i think it would be interesting to see that one play out if that ever did happen. i think if they did, they would do it on 96.5. that would be the smart choice. because they would more than likely get owned if they did it on 95.3. honestly they should put something like an alternitive station like 97 x in tampa on there. that station also has a nitch signal like 95.3. but by the ollks of things, 95.3 does well for right now.... heer is another thought. imagine if clear channel did a gen-x format on 100.3. i think that would work. for an example of this, look at wgex in albany ga to see what i'm talking about. but then again, wrum is doing quite well for itself.... now, how about a station like play 98.7 from tampa on 105.1? this is a pretty good station. i think mix could use a bit of a refresh. i really have to give sunny credit. i really think they have gotten better in the past few months. i really enjoy that station now. the jingles are awesome and i like the speciality shows like 60s at 6 and stuff like that. well guys. that's all i have for now... this bored was getting a little boring so i figured i'd give you guys a bit of food for thought :). happy fourth :).

Austin, we missed ya pal. How's life in Central Florida? Lots of great radio there for you.

life is ok :). no complaints here. i think the radio is a bit better in tampa than orlando. and i still stand by what i said above.

Come on, you still have WMMO. Wish Tampa still had a station like that. As well as Sunny FM. Other that that I agree with your statement.

Why would Cox blow up WHTQ. (96 Rock) It was only in February when the station changed its name and transformed its playlist to Active Rock. I mean I don't really like WHTQ but at the same time it would be safe to see if the station does any better by adding 90's and 2000's rock. Or if WJRR literally trumps HTQ in the ground. However igniting a CHR war with XL 1067 sounds nice. XL is getting stale and some competition would be nice.

Then again Cox has tried new formats in other markets just to blow them up 7 Months later. Look at KHPT 106.9 The Zone in Houston. The station had a rough start but as soon as the Playlist was modified the ratings were getting better. The word was getting out and Cox really had something to sell with KHPT. Then Cox axes it for a simulcast of 107.5 The Eagle. At least until Cox sells the 106.9 signal to some company specializing in Spanish language stations. Cox would take a good format and ditch it 7 months to a year later. However their "Eagle", "River", "Country Legends", and "Point" stations would do mediocre in the ratings but will survive for years on end.
