Some translator..

KSDW, 88.9 ,uses 270 watts @924m on Palomar Mtn. It's 96.9 San Pasqual translator, 904m, was 10 watts until last month
when it was upgraded to 160 watts. Not satisisfied with a 16-fold power increase, an application is filed, upping power to 250 watts,
just 20 shy of its full powered main signal. Quite redundent/overlapping signals.
Comment: surrender 96.9 to Activist San Diego...

Surrender nothing that translator is worth close to half a million dollars. If the activists want it so bad they can buy it! Non coms can beg for money all day and make a fortune (i.e. KPBS). Thats the only reason the activists want a station that and so they can complain on the radio without being hung up on.

Why not? San Diego is way too one sided with right wing stuff

A "right wing" equivalent of a far left group such as the "Activists" would be something on the order of a station run by the American Nazi party. As with the Pacifica stations, this proposed new San Diego station is far out on the fringe, way beyond most Democrats.

A friend, who self-defines as a "liberal Democrat" looked at the website and said, "I see they protest everything. Are they actually 'for' anything?"

They obtained KSDW and K245AI in a legal manner and are upgrading them according to the FCC rules. I don't understand, what exactly is your problem?

96.9's xlator is licensed to San Pasqual, noted for having virtually NO residents, and is designated as"open space and agriculture". Hwy 78
passes thru this lower elevation area and 96.9 filled in for the weak KRTM/KSDW signal.Being onlt 5.5 miles distant, 10 watts is adequate for this
area. I see the uneeded increase a 'back door way' of filling in parts of RIVERSIDE Cty that is a weak area for the directional KSDW, and way
beyond San Pasqual (by 40+ miles).
So, owning 3 stations on 3 freqs. covering most of San Diego county Calvary Chapel is indeed legal; but is it necessary? No. And,
if giving my viewpoint here does not agree with you, then it's YOUR problem, R.W.
