...Some Urban Rumblings

Thought I'd post this since nobody has mentioned these stories on the board.......

-Roy Wood Jr exits Cox Birmingham 95.7 JAMZ morning show. "Magic City Morning Show" launches with former co-hosts.

-Radio Vet Wayne Brown lost his battle with cancer. He was most recently remembered as VP of Operations at Radio One Atlanta. He also helped launched Atlanta's new Hip-Hop station, STREETZ 94.5

-Michael Long exits nights/operations manager at Clear Channel Montgomery HOT 105, 105.7 after 25 years of service. T-Roy is now piped in to The Gump via Premium Choice.

-Tony Q exits KISS 101.7 Deleware

-An online peition has been started to bring back Big Abe and The Power Posse Morning Show on Cumulus New Orleans POWER 102.9. Syndicated Rickey Smiley took over mornings last week.

The Tony Q news is surprising. I thought he owned that station. He made a Facebook post that said that he was no longer with the station and was looking for work. Was he forced out by other partners, banks or creditors? If there is new ownership, the Urban format might not last long considering the signal. Although KISS 101.7 serves Wilmington and Dover, and has studios and offices in Wilmington, don't the Philly stations come in better in Wilmington?

Philly stations do boom into Wilmington. I have friends in Dover that tell me 101.7 KISS FM is there only source for Hip-Hop and R&B.

I think it was time for Michael to exit. Even though he was a name for the market, he should be in Urban AC now. I compete with WZHT in Dothan and I can't believe what CC has done to that station... It's pathetic. They sometimes segue 4-5 songs with no talk or ID.
