Someone "PLEASE Tell Me Why?" LOL!

Tell me why would you FLIP an ALL SPORTS Station when Football Season starts? If you can't sell FOOTBALL you need to "pack up shop"! I guess the same decision WHY would you play CLASSIC ROCK songs on your ACTIVE ROCK station when there are TWO CLASSIC ROCK STATIONS in the market already? I guess the same reason you have a FOUR Person Morning Show in market 240 that can't BEAT the NUMBER ONE station in the market who has an INFERIOR Signal. The Morning Show that the Main Host who writes how GREAT he is on these same BOARDS! That is so RIDICULOUS! Coming from Market 15 recently, that A FOUR Person Morning was even UNHEARD there! The same RINGLEADER who flipped the Hot AC in market 240 a week before the book came back and the format they had actually INCREASED in the ratings to an format that has TANKED everywhere it has been tried! Decisions ALL made by the so-called RINGLEADER of The TRAGIC Circus!

To think FIVE years ago ISLAND 106 was NUMBER ONE with the much better COMPETITION from WPFM with Scholor Brad at the helm. 97X was a DOMINANT number TWO even with the "ZAC-In-The-BOX" gang at 94.5 there, 97X had a 9.9 and The FOX had a 3.3, do the math! The ATTACK MACHINE owned the Talk Radio Market on WYOO. In all then-Stylesmedia had FOUR out of the TOP 5 Stations. Where are Kim Styles, Tom DiBacco (both running SUCCESSFUL ventures out of RADIO), Anthony Acampora, (Again running a THRVING Consultancy Business), Keith Allen (Progamming a Major Market CHR with CC), Dan Weintz (Market Manager for the same Major Market CC Cluster), DILO (Part of the Same Major Market CC Cluster & who RULED Memphis before that), The FREAK (R.I.P. My Friend) & YODA (Whom the Current TRAGIC Ringleader deemed OLD) who has DOMINATED in market 100 in both TV & Radio and is about to return there & has made stops in Markets 15 & 39).

I think I have made my POINT! Stewy, Tibbs, Diamond Two and my other comrades, I look forward to hearing your thoughts & comments! Sorry I have been away so long!

It is GREAT To BE "BACK"!

I havent been following these boards so closely lately (except to check on Rob's antics, of course!) You back in da Souf??? Where'd ya land? I can tell where ya didn't. I can see a softer, gentler side of you doing mornings on the V. ;D

Here we go again. First off, want to try making your posts a little easier on the eyes? EASE UP on the ALL CAPS every OTHER WORD. Thanks.

I don't work at Magic/PC, nor have I ever worked or resided anywhere in the market. I don't even live within 350 miles of Panama City. It should therefore go without saying that I don't know the politics in the building. Here's what I do know:

1. I'm assuming the "four person" morning show you're referencing is Kramer on Island, and I'm assuming that the supposed self-congratulatory posts on this board were mine, since I'm one of the only ones who has mentioned the show in this forum. For the final time, I am NOT Kramer.

2. I love how all the bitching about a lack of small market breeding grounds for up-and-coming talent suddenly turns into confusion over why you'd put a four-person morning show on in market #240. Here's why: because they need to start somewhere, and because they're a damn good CHR program. So good, in fact, that they could easily go toe-to-toe with most major market CHR morning shows. Sooner or later, they will accomplish just that. I do know for a fact that their ratings in PC have been tremendous.

3. I am sure Magic would love for its stations to be atop the 6+ rankings. However, there are these little things called target demographics. If its stations are performing well there (which they may or may not be - like I said, I'm not in-market), 6+ doesn't matter. Having said that, Island and 97X's 6+ ratings are better than adequate and I don't think I'm out of line to assume that their breakdowns are just fine. Just because you aren't #1 overall doesn't matter. End of. And as an objective listener who spent a week in the market in March, Island and X are both very well-programmed radio stations.

4. V100 definitely sounded like a mess upon its launch. Whether or not they've gotten it together in the past few weeks, I couldn't tell you because I haven't listened to the stream...but I'm guessing they've tightened the music slightly and according to the website, they've made some airstaff adjustments. No cluster is exempt from its internal issues, especially in fiscally restricted small markets, and I would highly doubt that Magic/PC is an exception to that rule. There very well may have been mismanagement on Magic's part with respect to that frequency. Having said that, look deeper. The politics behind decision-making aren't always as simple as they seem on the surface, and you can't necessarily attribute certain moves to the people you might think deserve the criticism.

Hey MusicMan! Since you claim you don't live in PCB, you don't know your facts obviously! I have been told by more than ONE reliable source, you are KRAMER or someone close to him and the fact of how you always get defensive when someone critical of "KRAMER & his FEMALE crew", yes ALL of them, tells me you are part of the MAGIC bunch. Everything I write is FACT, yes, I can write in CAPS if I want to. I was part of the ISLAND 106 crews that pulled 12.4 ratings back in the Sean Phillips, Dom Theodore, Bill Catcher era. I was part of 97X when it pulled 9.9 and 7.6 ratings back in the Keith Allen - Stylesmedia days. And that was when WE had DIRECT competition from 94.5 the FOX days at Clear Channel! If the current regime and TRAGIC PROGRAMMING RINGLEADER is so GREAT why can't those numbers I mentioned earlier be DUPLICATED? Answer that? You CAN'T! I stand what I posted earlier. FACT is a FACT!

I only POSTED what I did because I hate seeing FACTS being DISTORTED on here! If you doubt my FACTS, call DOM THEODORE, BILL CATCHER, KEITH ALLEN, KIM STYLES or ANTHONY ACAMPORA. But it doesn't really MATTER to me, I am on my way back to a TOP 100 market and while in PCB & Dothan during my 10 Year Plus Run, which I left on my OWN terms, I worked in Market 18. And since, worked in Markets 39, 101 & 15 for SAGA, CUMULUS, CITADEL & SANDUSKY! What have you done MusicMan? Don't reply unless you have FACTS!

Good to know I can still RUFFLE FEATHERS!

Stewy & Diamond Two and Beaver, where are you guys?

Stewy & Diamond Two and Beaver, where are you guys?

Oh WHACKED one... you have the feather-ruffling down to a science, so anything Stewy, Beaver or I could add would just be redundant.

However...

TheMusicMan has previously made comparisons of the Island 106 morning show to The Bert Show, based at Q100 in Atlanta. Yes, they're both morning shows. Yes, they have multiple cast members. Yes, they're both on CHR's (although given the way Jan Jeffries at Cumulus programs his CHR's, Q is not really one; they're just a HOT AC).

...Oh, were you looking for additional comparisons? Sorry, can't help you there. This is not intended to take pot-shots at Kramer and Company (or whatever they're called). For Panama City, Florida, they'll suffice. The reality is, they're NOT major-market material, and short of a serious infusion of REAL talent and some serious coaching from someone qualified to help them grow, they're not going to be major-market material. Again, not a dig at them, but just realistic. I do not know any of the players on that morning show. I'm sure they're all very nice people and work hard to put on a good show. And it's not bad; there is potential for growth there. Could it one day be a major (or even medium) market-quality show? Maybe, again - IF they could get the coaching and get past the cutesy, "look-at-me I'm on the radio" mindset. As long as the comparison is made, even The Bert Show has a certain amount of that stuff going on too.

I wouldn't put my Classic Hits/Oldies station up against some of the major market stations (K-Earth 101, CBS-FM, Majic 105.7), because we're a small-market radio station. Those stations would clean our clock. I know it, and it would be unrealistic to even think about it. Heck, I wouldn't even put it up against a Classic Hits/Oldies station I programmed just a few years ago, because I had all live and local talent and a pretty substantial promotion budget.

I wish 'em all well, but come on TMM, it's small market radio.

Wow Mr. Whacked, Quite impressive those market's you've worked in, number's 15, 18, 39, 101, my goodness that must look mighty impressive on your resume', however it's of my opinion and your slamming of TheMusicMan regarding the FACTS, and unless you've worked in major market's number's 10, 2, 3, 4, 6, AS I HAVE, you IN FACT really don't have a lot real room to talk regarding anything FACT, after your little brag and tirade about which market's you've worked in, we just had to laugh, with those market number's I wouldn't tell anybody, IN FACT if YOU were applying for an on-air job with me, the chances are well, IN FACT I'd most likely throw your aircheck tape in the trashcan because the FACTS are simple you working in market's 15, 18, 39, and 101 shows us you really don't have any on-air quality or ability that we'd want to hire in the first place and that's a FACT........

So you can go ahead and toot your own horn it's all good, but the bottom line is FACT, if you can't bark with the BIG BOY'S, you really need to get back up-on-the-porch, and those, you guessed it, are the FACTS....
