Well, I mean, the way I'm reading it, it's one for the Rock fans: If the incentive--aimed directly at the Rock audience--actually helps increase representation in the demo, we might just get the Rock revival everyone keeps screaming about...

It won't hurt Kanye West though so you're still kinda on your own there...

Very innovative ideas, and very costly too. Do you think that these new and improved methods will reach enough people fomerly "left out" with diaries to justify the expense Arbitron will incur?

I really don't. But I can't come up with another idea (short of hiring hookers) to get that particular demo group interested.

How do you figure? Arbitron is trying to improve responses from young MEN --including the demos who prefer rap and hiphop. I've been out of radio for a few years, but I recall that the poor Arbitron response from 18-24 year-old men historically cuts across formatic tastes, so campaigns to improve response in the demo could elevate multiple young adult formats (rock, urban, Spanish).

Which format around here besides Rock is aimed specifically for men 18-24? In increasing recognition of 18-24 male listenership, which format around here besides Rock stands to gain the most ground?

Rock is the only format around here where that demo is ultimately very significant. Q102, B101, Wired, Power, WDAS, etc. are mostly interested in female listeners. Sure, they'll be happy if they see that some more men are listening...but it's the Rock stations who will actually turn it into increased profit.
Edited by E.
