Someone's going to win a Regional Emmy...but who?

For those of you Nashville natives out there, This past weekend was one of the best "Breaking News/Continuing Coverage" broadcasts in the the market's history. The only question is who did the best job?

It would have been hard for Channels 2 & 17 to win the weekend with 2 & 17 having no chopper and 17's news crew having to evacuate their building on Sunday night, but they're doing the best they can, especially 2.

My gold medal goes to Channel 5, but Channel 4 wasn't too far behind in the silver medal position. I have Channel 2 winning the bronze medal, and 17 bringing up the rear but doing a good job while they can.

What do you guys think?

Well, it helps to have a live stream of the weather event. At least Channel 4 has that on its side:

And just what makes you think the winner going away will be Nashville? Let's not forget some Honolulu stations had some good coverage of the Hawaii tsunami earlier this year - even though nothing major ever materialized...

Honolulu's NBC affiliate would probably win out west, but the "regional" Emmy award for 2011 I was talking about would be whoever come out of the southeast. I'd say a Huntsville station might get nominated because of their coverage of the shooting at Alabama-Huntsville. Memphis is looking like an outside shot, and I don't think anything major has happened in Raleigh, NC or Knoxville or even Chattanooga.
