Something Else- WSB WKND vs. WYAY WKND

Last night, a man fell off the upper deck of the Georgia Dome.

WYAY has been updating things live with Pamela Furr since about 2am last night.

Meanwhile, WSB has been including it in the "WSB WEEKEND SPORTS" segment for about 10 seconds.

Does WSB even care?!?
 
I really think WSB does not care about WYAY... they did not upgrade their news staff when the competition started.

WSB has made changes in their traffic presentation though. They have slowed the pace somewhat, and they are also advertising their traffic update frequency, at least during the mornings.

I have to agree with ccinsider. WYAY now has the superior traffic product. They get major points because it is 24/7 and STAFFED 24/7.

I love how if I wake up in the middle of the night, even on the weekends, I can still get up to date with Live traffic all night. Very useful, and most vital to ATL. Let's see if it lasts.
 
WSB is staffed with traffic reporters 24/7 also. WSB is staffed through Metro Networks and WYAY through Radiate Media. Of course, WYAY runs traffic in overnights far more often.

Yes. But, Radiate Media's Southeast bereau is at INT NORTH. Si the reporters know Atlanta.

Talmage, Hunter, and Charles are all AN106.7 employees. The others are not, but are live in the AN1067 traffic desk.

I'll second this. A couple Sunday mornings ago I was at work and overheard Cobb fire page out an overturned van on I-75NB JSO Chastain Rd. 8 patients, mostly juveniles, two adults with serious injuries, several lanes blocked. I called in and gave it to them, they answered on the 2nd ring (this was early morning, 0430-0500ish), and it was on the air within 4 minutes. This is EXCELLENT and TIMELY information.

Ironically, WSB-TV must either be listening to Cobb fire or WYAY, because they had a truck roll and did a live shot for their Action News Sunday edition. Good news no one critical.

I'll turn to AN106.7 before WSB for traffic anyday of the week.

You think that Radiate owns the copter? I don't think so. He even provide reports for Fox5, and Radiate doesn't have a partnership w/ Fox5.

I have no idea who works for whom, but I know Kristen currently has at least three "endorsement" spots running on AN106.7 . . . which leads me to believe she is attached to AN106.7. Maybe not an employee, but if not, certainly exclusive.

I did not suggest anyone was lying.. I just said the copter is not a copter... and put a smile there to imply that is a little bit of a good natured riddle. They never say copter on the air.

Also, they are always careful to say when they are in the air and when they are not it becomes the command center or some such... don't remember the exact words. One way or the other, what they say on the air is always truthful.
 
Okay. I misunderstood. I guess they don't call it a "traffic copter" to distance themselves from Dubuyuessbee.

There are simply "Right Now Airborne Traffic", not "WSB 24-Hour CoolRay Heating and Air Skycopter Skyplane Traffic brought to you by Champion Windows.....". It gets annoying.
 
I have not heard the "sky plane" mentioned lately? WSB was promoting a direct link of something "like a GA DOT Traffic center?" Did this take the place of the "Sky plane"?

Isn't Sky Plane kind of an oxymoron? Have you ever heard of a street plane?
