I remember back in the days before WHDQ was the Q, they stunted with all sorts of things for the call letter change, and said it had something to do with Hawaii. IIRC, there was a contest that conincided with the name change that won you a trip to Hawaii or something like that.
Geez, how many radio stations do you know of now that giveaway travel packages? ???
When you go to http://www.us937.com and click Listen live the following message pops up:

I am recording as a wav file on Audacity and will convert to mp3
(It is now a couple minutes before noon on 7/1, no matter what the time stamp on this post says)
whispered "WUSX Addison something fishy is coming Tue at noon"
another song
PHISH 93.7 FM (was that on their site already?)
"Hi I ...PD..and I'd like to thank you for tuning in...this is a radio station based on the golden
era of the 60s...from Beach Boys to Suprmes to Spoonful to Mamas and Papas to Beatles"
no prob; I try to make it up to VT (esp. Rutland & Burl/Champ valley) & NH especially (need to
see a bit more of ME too) when I can. Well, WUSX may have decided to dump country
because of the inroads other stations like WTNN are making, and oldies is a safe bet for low-cost
(will there be live DJs though?) programming. Again, I note the PD said "60s based" but there
was an early 70s song by Croce, but the "decades rule" isn't always what one would expect (in
fact their opinion of "60s" may well be 63-74 or something...)
note: while us937.com still works, there is now this:
Not a bad move. Somebody with a signal better than 92.1 needs to fill the 60's niche that Kool 105 seems to have vacated. Perhaps they can get better jocks than the liner-card readers I hear on Kool.
Wait, this is Northeast we're talking about. If they have a live jock outside of drive time on that station, I'll buy you a steak.
