Something I just learned about Jay Leno

I just ran across the Atlanta schedules for
Saturday, July 2, 1988, and noticed something
very interesting. That night, NBC pre-empted
Saturday Night Live for The Jay Leno Show, which
originated in Philadelphia. Guests were David
Letterman, Vanna White, Doug Llewelyn (People's
Court), and rock group The Hooters. Comedian Lu
Leonard was co-host. I don't know if anyone
remembers this special (I don't), but thought it
might be a mention of interest to Leno fans.

Hmmm,i just learned that too!! (When viewing this thread)

Heres some more interesting facts about him :)

I do recall the show - I believe I still have it on tape. My favorite part was the open, where Jay visited the "Offices" of TV Guide and made various jokes about programming.

The irony is that there are folks (probably some around here - both lurking and active) that could play the one-liners straight. IIRC, it was things like "In Portland, Maine, people sit down to dinner with reruns of XXX, but in Portland, Oregon, those shows air in the morning and they watch YYY" and "a 'College Class' on programming - making fun of the reuse of general themes in different shows". If I can find it, I'll try to post on You Tube"
