something on 102.7 near Decatur?

Coming back home from south AL today, I came across a signal on 102.7 for several miles just south of the Tennessee River bridge on I-65, playing heavy rock. The transitions between songs were terrible, where the music would abruptly end followed by a few seconds of dead air, then the next song. there was an ID played, but it started to fade out and all I heard was 102.7..... Everything That Rocks. I know 102.9 The Buzz in Nashville uses the Everything that rocks line as well, but I clearly heard the ID say 102.7, and checking 102.9 I got nothing on that frequency but WEUP. The moment I was off of the north end of the bridge, the signal dropped completely. I recall hearing something on 102.7 in this same area back in late 2006, but at that time I thought it was just tropo bringing in WEGR from Memphis.

I've been hearing it for f few years when I'm up that way. Like you, I thought it was Memphis, but the signal is too solid. Production is way bad also. Must be a pirate. Not half bad music, though.

This is first I heard about this signal. Usually on my radio 102.7 is the static end/beginning of "Mix 102.9". Since the id said "Everything that rocks", it has to be an active rock or a very loose modern rock format.

i'd like to hear that...someone stream it on the net... LOL

actually what i'd like to do is go up there with a spectrum anaylser and see what direction its coming from...(i act like i know what i'm talking about...)

It's probably a long shot, but could it be W274AA, a translator on 102.7 in Florence that you're hearing?

It's supposedly rebroadcasting WOWL-FM 91.9 out of Corinth, MS which is listed as Adult Album Alternative.

A few years ago I found myself up in Iuka and the station was playing all kinds of stuff, including some very diverse rock. They were even giving personalized "shout outs" on the RDS Text on my stereo's display!

All I know about the station is its noncomm and not run by any school that I know of, and when I heard it there were live jocks, even around midnight. It sounds like a good canditate for the amateur hour you heard. ???

(FWIW they are also listed as being on the 98.9 translator in Zip City.)

i think i heard that, actually, when i worked for Q-107...i was interested in what they were doing over there. I've still got friends in Florence, i'll get 'em to check that out...

Don't think it was the Fun 91 translator. I can pick 91.9 up at home if i set the antenna just right to null out WEUZ and 91.7. and I clearly heard "102.7" in the bad ID that ran just before I lost the signal completely. Only thing I can get on 102.7 up here in Toney when my transmitter is off is random stray signal from WEGR, and WBDX from the Chattanooga area. As I was listening to this on the interstate, I had my Macbook Pro still hooked up to the tuner after recording an aircheck of WXFX, but it didn't even cross my mind to record it for some reason.

While waiting on Highway 67 for the fireworks at Point Mallard I turned it to 102.7 what you miss is "Full Metal Racket.....102.7". The station had no commercials and some songs didnt even end and the next song started heard a few F bombs in some songs. It comes in strong in the Priceville area but the further i got into Decatur the station faded out. This station only comes in at night because during the day its more pop music. Anyways just thought I would help you guys out.

I have some updates on the station at 102.7 FM. I also heard the "Everything that Rocks 1-0-2-.7" Slogan and the hard rock. An Engineer emailed me a few weeks ago and mentioned that he tracked the signal to somewhere called Brooksville Mtn. I am familiar with the community of Brooksville, @ the 4 way stop of 278 and 79 in Blount County, but I am positive it is not the same one. The station apparently is watching their trail because I only hear it airing at Night and sometimes during the day on weekends.

When I'm in Decatur I always check out 102.7. It wasn't on Jan. 3. The last time I heard it, it was running the stream from the Buzz in Nashville. The station is not in Brooksville.
