Something other than Sports FM - WONE

And in my non professional opinion, Tim's a good guy and the ultimate radio geek if you ever got the chance to talk to him.

Sounds like they're in the process of slowly scrapping "The Home of Rock 'n Roll" in favor of "Everything That Rocks." Could also get a new imaging voice in the coming months.

They're carrying every Browns game this season, right? That's a good move on their part, my new place doesn't get WTAM or WMMS very well, but WONE booms in.

When Clear Channel used to handle the Browns broadcast rites/control of the radio network, for years CC wouldn't allow FMs near Cleveland to carry the Browns....too much competition for WTAM/WMMS.

Now that the Browns control their own network, several big-signal northeastern Ohio FMs, not far from Cleveland, carry all Browns games.

WONE by far has the biggest coverage area....most of this part of the state. In Canton, WHBC-FM also on the network list.

Both T.K. O'Grady & Tim Daugherty are good, good people.

Indeed, they are.

To head off any speculation I'm sure I'll get: I hear that T.K. is on a pre-planned vacation, and the lack of his voice on WONE the next week or two is only because of that.

Of course, I'll get the "T.K. isn't on WONE anymore, WHY???" E-mails in about a week. I get them regularly for local media types who are gone for more than a few days. I think a certain Fox 8 female morning co-host holds the record for most E-mails concerned that she's fired, when she is only taking vacation time...

WXKR/Port Clinton/Toledo carries the Browns. Used to be WIOT, a CC rocker, but they dropped the Browns in 06 or 07. At that time I believe the rights were $5000. WXKR's 30kw signal covers a big area. Can be heard clearly in Berea off the turnpike.

If I remember, Browns rights end up costing around $2,000 a game..at least that was the way the deal worked when Clear Channel controlled things..that may very well have changed..

This was 2006 0r 07 and being shopped to Cumulus Toledo after WIOT dumped them. Cumulus passed at that time. But recently acquired Browns for WXKR.
