Something strange bubbling up on KLLI HD2

I'm curious--What was the "Cadillac Radio" ad concept?
Music and car advertising that was on a few very low powered AM transmitters quite a few years ago. Here in Houston it was heard along a busy freeway (I-45 North) from a transmitter and antenna mounted on a billboard operating on 1500 kHz. Can’t remember the exact timeframe. Signal could be faintly heard several miles away.

Similar effort some years after that with Honda plugging its SUVs from another billboard transmitter on 1660. Discussed on the Houston forum at the time IIRC, but doesn’t come up on a search. Signal could faintly be heard about a mile and a half away.

What I'm wondering, given the description of the "music" being played on this channel, is if real artists are getting ready to sue for copyright infringement with the argument that the "songs" played sound too much like their own work.

Have you listened to it? The songs don't sound like any existing songs or artists, but rather in the styles of pop music genres.

An additional layer of gross as I tuned in again very briefly last night- the AI DJ giving fake backstories of the AI artists eg. “That was Jim Jimson, who never thought he’d be a country singer- he started out playing baseball in the Cape Cod League before signing his major label contract”. WOOF.

Actually, I listened to two songs yesterday evening. While they weren't songs I recognized, that didn't mean they weren't "copying" other people's work--I'm not up on today's music.

I just heard an ID - RAIN FM, Non Stop KPOP Radio live from K Town, brought to you by Music Plaza, 628 S. Western Avenue, Koreatown. L.A. At least I heard it on 93.9 HD2 (5 bars) in Burbank. I can't get it on 106.3

Well, at least now the move of the translator makes sense. But remember, 106.3 is an extremely limited signal:

Anyone found a webstream for RAIN FM yet?

Meanwhile the stream for FIZZ-FM is still available: 106.3 The Fizz FM
