Something strange on 890 AM

I meant to post this sooner, but what's up with KTXV?

The Radio Saigon format is apparently gone, replaced with an English format. Bear with me here because this defies description. Seriously, there's an afternoon business roundup that sounds like a collection of in-house corporate news releases replete with earnings reports, stock offerings, charge back news and such, delivered in a boring, monotone manner. Any word emphasis that appears is usually misplaced as well.

There are promos for other shows that supposedly focus on sports, celebrity news and lifestyle subjects, all of which are poorly produced and voiced by amateurish young people who sound like they should be on community radio or local cable TV shows. Oh, and from what I could tell there are no commercials at all.

I've only listened in the afternoons (mainly because that's all I could stand) but I kind of figure the rest of the day isn't much better, so somebody tell me. What in the world is this?

Radio Saigon to 1600khz??

Various reports in Radio/DX forums have KTXV running China Radio International in English.

CRI English also airs on two stations in the Houston market, and CRI Chinese on a third.

Wow. Just wow.
The day after the election I heard a program discussing how the voting might turn out.
Friday morning I heard the Wednesday morning weathercast, and then they played it again!
They played some music, and the tunes were actually something i might have wanted to hear, but they were so overdriven and compressed they just sounded like noise.
TL:dr... a waste of electricity.
