Something to talk about

I see that the FM Bad Boys of Talk on The Buzz are dropping faster than
The Lobos Basketball Rankings.

The question, which I have asked before....with now two FM talkers going bye bye.....If you had a 10k or 50k AM station and wanted to do a talk format NOT to beat KOB but to just make a nice profit so ya need lets say a
3 share.......

I ask you great radio people WHAT would you do?????

The Buzz is going bye-bye? I haven't been able to hear 96.3 here in Taos since November of last year (since KKIT went on the air at 95.9 FM), so mostly everything I hear about this frequency comes from this website. The Buzz sure didn't last long...

Here is what I think. hire Chris Jackson (unless to expensive), the red menace guys (if available, I know they run a website and do the podcast thing), and the movie guys from 106.3 (if available they do a website, podcast thing, and aren't thought I heard syndicated somewhere) , look over the best available LIVE national. Put together a news department.

Put Jackson in the morning, the sports guys at lunch, find a good local afternoon host, put the movie guys on at night. Fill in the weekends with automotive, gambling, computer, gardening, etc. etc. etc. shows for extra money. Toss in national shows in between the local and roll the dice.

Find some decent network shows. Here is the thing a station like that does not have to take over KKOB, it just has to find a niche. 106.3's problem is that they tried to take over KKOB. It isn't impossible, but you're not going to do it the very first day of broadcasting. The word is alternative to, same with advertisers. My goodness KKOB is so loaded down with commercials. Clark's show is an infomercial at this point.

The word you want to keep in mind is niche, niche, niche.

-----------------------------------------------
The Buzz falling apart isn't a surprise very little national radio sells and most people don't enjoy national radio if it isn't live. Throw in that the one local show is not entertaining with weak hosts and it is a recipe for disaster.

With Citadel buying disney stations, one frequency has to go in Albuquerque. The buzz.

Radio Disney Makes Money here with very little overhead and billing of 15k a month thats 180 in revenue with only ONE salaried employee.

Hey I see NO ideas for talk. I only have read someone wanting to bring back some of the old KAGM FAILED talkers.....

The Red Menace guys should be picked up by the 610. I like Mike and Mike however.
