I'm visiting my mom tonite and I noticed something very odd with her Sylvania HDTV. The cable is wired directly into the TV and not through a cable box. In addition to all the regular COX Analog Line-Up I noticed the following, which was very weird.

3.1 WFSB-DT same as 701 with the BOX
3.3 WFSB Eyewitness News Now same as 801 with the box

8.1 WTNH-DT same as 702 with the box
8.4 WTNH SkyMax Dopplar Radar same as 125 with the box

What's weird about that? Many cable systems offer basic digital channels (and in some cases, a few extras) to those with digital-capable sets but no formal digital subscription.
 
My friends cable which is straight from the wall into the TV, she has all the Music Choice Channels starting at 78.1 and going up. Plus ABC Family HD, TBS HD, QVC HD, CBS College Sports HD, along with the locals HD and sub channels. (all these channels are next to the analog channel, for example ABC Family is on 5 making ABC Family HD is on 5.1)

Personaly I think its great get HDs without having the a digital box. Would be nice if all the major cable networks HD came thru right next to the analog one.
