I'm hearing whispers that something is up at WJDQ - Meridian, with major changes happening as soon as this afternoon.

I'm out of the market, though, can anyone confirm or deny?

I have it on good faith that there's a meeting in progress right now with the program director and ops manager. Supposidly they're finalizing some details but I'm not sure what yet. Stay tuned... I have a pretty good source in the building so maybe I can get the scoop soon.

Here's an update: They played a promo saying that they've been listening to the people and that they were going to make some changes that people had been "begging for." I'm not sure what means but I do know that they're in shuffle mode and whatever change they're going to make will happen on Monday. I've heard everything from "Barbie Girl" by Aqua to Sweet Home Alabama. The first "shuffle" song they played was "ABC" by the Jackson 5. They're also running jockless.

My source in the building told me that a format flip has been discussed but they haven't been able to get it confirmed. I hope they're not flipping to some spanish format.

I'd take a Spanish format over what I've been listening to the last hour BUT the people have begged for it so.... Goes to show you be careful what you ask for. :D

I just heard it... it's an, er interesting mix. My friend over at Holladay said they're not getting too excited yet but there are some in the building jumping for joy over "taking down a heretage station" and that there's at least one person already talking about bringing back Z102. I'm not sure if Q is fliping (my friend over there won't even take my calls right now) but it sure smells like one. My money's on some kind of hispanic format like what's already been mentioned. It's about the only thing that hasn't been tried in the market.

By the way, I wonder if this is another sign that the cluster has been sold.

This is funny, reading all of these speculative posts. Wonder how, on good authority, that previous poster knew that the PD and the OM were huddled behind closed doors at 1:22pm today? Or maybe that was just a guess. I have it on even better authority that the OM wasn't even thinking about Meridian at that time today. In fact, he was eating some pulled pork and texas toast at a little restaurant in Jackson. Now, how's THAT for insider information. But you might infer that because the waitress at the restaurant that was serving him was, indeed, hispanic, well...there's a format change waiting to happen! (But shhhh...don't tell anybody!).
:p ;D :)

Ha. Guess I've got some stuff I can call out my snoop on, eh? Thanks for that tib-bit. Might be fun to use that in a conversation later.

But you can't deny that something is going on over there. It's pretty obvious that something is planned, be it a format flip or something else. I highly doubt they'd basically shut down there station and go to alternate programming for nothing.

Hispanic format? Oh no! Dude you ever checked the percentage of hispanics in Q's listening area?

I think it's going to be a new morning show..er..uh..make that a former morning show. As far as the format. It's anybody's guess. Yes, sigh, even hispanic. :D

Tonedeaf...you are the only one who seems to have accurate insider info.

BULLSEYE !!!! It's a new morning show....best bet...an OLD show brought back. I do know that they're dumping Kidd for a local slant. As for the format, may just be a ploy to draw a crowd Monday morning........we can rest now.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It's beautiful to know what EXACTLY is going on and then be able to come on here and laugh at some of the ridiculousness that's being posted. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Here's some, at least for now, wishful thinking:

A much needed swap back to 101.3FM

A shift in format to more HOT AC, which would represent the format that Q presented as CHR in the 80s, not to mention it's glory days.

Just a couple of other touches and the nightmare Crap Channel created will be over for this legend.

Again, this is just wishful thinking...for now...

And that, QID, will continue to be wishful thinking. I can't reveal what's going on for fear my source will get in trouble but I can't wait until it's revealed in the morning. Good things are coming to 95.1!
