Something's Missing

Of all the topics that come up on this board, one station is rarely if ever mentioned, here: WYRK. I'm not a WYRK employee or fanatic, but I do listen to the station occasionally. It's curious that THE number one station in Buffalo in just about every category, gets little play here. Posters argue about KB, public radio, the Lake and a few other chestnuts, but rarely is WYRK discussed. WYRK consistently out-performs all other stations in the market with great ratings. It has an entertaining morning show and plays some of the best music ever produced, but few people mention it on this board. I'm not chastizing the regulars on the board, I'm simply wondering WHY this is the case? Thank you.

IMHO, WYRK is vanilla and that's why no one talks about them. They are a fine station, but there is no contraversy there and no format competition in Buffalo. The ratings are steady too so unless they slip from #1 or #2 to #6 no one is going to say much.

The most I'm willing to say myself, is the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
The station was doing fine with the previous owners, and will continue to have success with the new ownership.

What more is there to say?

Good replies to the question. Nobody talks about WYRK cuz it's just good and consistent. It may be bland, but bland is good when you're #1 and without direct, in-band competition. By the way, can you name any personalities on WYRK (without Googling the station or going to its website) outside of the morning show? Didn't think so. It's Jack-Like in that regard. We malcontents, n'er-do-wells and plagarists like to talk about controversy, real or contrived, pathetic losers and stations like KB. We're a pitiful lot, so you'll have to excuse us.

I do tend to think that WYRK has a wicked and outstanding record and always have been a strong asset to Buffalo even to Southern Ontario.

I do totally agree with this comment 110%. Like wise I think if there was a major break down, then there would be cause for discussion and definately would be discussed here for sure. Morning show is good and other elements, production and the overall sound would be a definate asset to consider if there was ever a station to butt heads with them. Im sure it would be a David and Goliath scenario if anyone ever decided to go after (Share) that market in Buffalo.
