There is NO SUCH THING as free energy!!!

Sheesh, we're back to hack "scientists" trying to create the perpetual motion machine. Wasn't this attempted around the turn of the last century?

These so called machines break multiple laws of physics. There is no free lunch, and there is no energy. Energy can only be transformed from one state to another, not created out of nothing. And the power input to such a device to keep it running will always be more than what comes out the other end, due to that pesky first law of thermodynamics.
 
I don't think he was describing perpetual motion, but he gave no evidence that his method of photo-conversion is any more efficient than something like traditional solar cells. It is interesting that it captures infrared, though. He's also banking on something more efficient than lead-acid batteries for storage, which hasn't been invented yet. For his ideas to work, his technology has to prove that it can be a lot more efficient than the existing methods, both in capture and in storage. Lastly, it has to do it all at a price that is affordable.
