Sometimes Howie Carr is a good sport

Wow, they aired me on the C-Line twice this week...the ban must've been lifted.

Howie allowed me to bash him regarding his calling Davy Jones of "The Monkees" by Peter Noone's name!

H.C. promised he wouldn't do it again. For his penance he'll have to go sign books at The Yellow Umbrella close to the scene of that original Monkees crime.

Does your post have some relevance to Boston area radio? If so I'm clearly missing it.

I've been on the C-Line dozens of times (but not in the past year....I haven't been calling) usually impersonating Uncle Teddy. That and $2 will get me a cup of coffee at Dunkies.

Lighten up, Francis.

I haven't called the chump line in years. I used to be on it once a week. Once, I lit off a bunch of fire crackers on the air. That was funny.

I used to call the Whiner Line on the Big Show quite a bit. But the last few times I tried, I didn't get on. I guess there's no room with the guy who does about 10 different voices... YAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

do D&C still do the "Dump Line." Or did they drop that?

yeah Smoke /victor bravo - this does pertain to Boston radio as H.C. was doing a show on The Monkees yesterday it appears...so I reminded him it wasn't a Monkees show he was at - South Shore Music Circus - but a Davy Jones OF the Monkees show with Peter Noone and old H.C. called Davy "Peter".

The funny thing is that you don't have to be a newspaper columnist/alleged journalist like Carr to realize that Jones is one of the most recognizable TV stars around and that Peter Noone, at one point in the 60s, were outselling the Beatles - Herman's Hermits records were so very hot

For Carr to mistake Jones for Noone is worse than mistaking Jay Leno for Jay Severin...or Arnold Terminator for Richard Gere...

I think they post the audio of the ChumpLine on http://www.wrko.com

I don't thik Howie is involved in the decision on what is heard on he chump line.

Am suffering thru Howie withdrawal now as I'm in Calif. for a week (am using a comp at a Kinko's in Downey
right now). Geez they could use him here! Though I did just hear a bit of Mr. Laura Schlessinger, Bill Handel
(right? DL's hubby?) via KFI.
Anyway, Hollywood, Pismo Beach, Dodger & Anaheim stadia, a minor league park in Rancho Cuck--my friend
and I got on big screen briefly, upgraded to "best seats in the house"--amonga...*

*--Jack Benny/Mel Blanc reference...

Weather and scenery great!

Hey Racoon - have fun out there and an In-N-Out burger (a double-double) too!!

As for your HC comment - you are right on! I listen on-line at the office here in PA and it is a huge downgrade to change from the Howie Carr show (via internet) to Sean Hannity (on WPHT, in the car). There is no comparison: Howie is ever so much more entertaining.

The problem with Howie is that he is "too New England". New Englanders like us appreciate the humor and get the references. Folks in places like CA, IL, PA, etc. would never get it. Which is why his syndication is only in New England. But, that being said, I think he would do fine in Connecticut - where he has no affiliates. So, there still is room for growth.

thanks--haven't gotten to an In n Out or an El Pollo Loco yet, but maybe...there is a good buffet chain,
Souplantation, also Farmer Boy (burgers etc)...and you're right about Howie.

A couple years back Howie did some KFI shows via ISDN line...9-noon LA time...He is definitely "too New
England" but that's what makes him work here. Meanwhile, my "wickid pissah" Boston accent sticks out like
a sore thumb here!

yup, thanks! Angels Stadium was great, too, and it was great that Figgins hit a triple to knock home
the winning run in the bottom of the 9th, but I digress from the main topic...
