Song CKWW Has In Their Playlist

Sorry to bother you Detroit.
CKWW plays a song that lyrics go:
Long-distance love affair
Lovin' on the phone
Long-distance love affair
It's the next best thing to being home.
Does anybody know who the artist or song title? What label was on the record on? It there any Cd the song is on or where I could get a copy of the song? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I don't' want to be a pest and ask the CKWW, because early this year I asked CKWW and Charlie O'Brien was so kind and help me out with Copper Penny's song " You're Still The One ".
I live in Philadelphia not originally from there, and CKWW does a great job of sounding like CKLW in it's heyday. I use to listen to them at Night during the mid 70's

Hmm - I checked google with the lyrics you provided but no luck - closest it came was a Sheena Easton song. If you can somehow remember more of the lyrics Google is pretty good at identifying the song title and artist - the key is to get enough of a lyric string.

I'll keep trying but so far no luck.

cheers -

I remember a tune by R&B singer Latimore called "Long Distance Love" in 1979. I can't remember all the lyrics though. We need more information like whether it was pop, rock, soul...male/female singer, group, etc.

It is a pop record, kind of on the corny side. It was by a male artist, who is probably from Canada or the song was recorded in Canada. I have been told it could be from around 1975. I have been told it could the Bellamy Brothers, which it is probably not. The Neon Philharmonic (who sang morning girl in 69), also did a song called Long Distance Love Affair, but it may not be them. CKWW AM plays the song from time to time. I don't want to make a pest of myself and contact CKWW, because earlier this year, Charlie O'Brien helped me find the Copper Penny song. Any help in finding what the title and the artist of this song, and were I might find a copy of it, would be greatly appreciated.

It was definitely a CanCon song, that still gets a lot of airplay nowadays in order to satisfy the CRTCs Canadian Content quota. I know what song you are speaking of, and it was definitely a song from 1875, give or take a year.

A couple of ways to locate info on the song:

* google "CKLW Big 30 charts" and follow the links to the website that archives the weekly charts and work your way around the mid 70s. It did get a lot of airplay when it first came out, so it should be on the charts somewhere.

* Either contact CKWW or CFCO in Chatham. They had played "Long Distance Love Affair" quite a bit at least up to a few years ago when I heard them last (again, as a song to put towards the CanCon quota).

Hope this helps
