Song Edits

I don't know why Power 100.3 owned by Cumulus in Myrtle Beach, SC edits these two songs Birthday Sex and Always Strapped. During Birthday Sex when its played they don't say the word sex. So it just goes Birthday. And for Always Strapped they don't let the word strapped be heard in the song. Not sure if Coast 97.3 in Wilmington, NC which is also owned by Cumulus is doing this also. As for hearing these songs on other stations I hear Birthday Sex played fine on the Pop station dance verison.

yeah i notice that too why all of sudden sex is bad word. when he did the song at bet awards they also edit out sex in the song birthday sex.

You can't say birthday sex but you can blare "I'm in Miami BITCH"...totally absurd

Most stations I hear them say Birthday Sex. Only this one station I hear the Birthday shhhh one which is Cumulus. Oh and today they played Wetter but they edit out the song wetter with get it or something. It must be a Cumulus thing.

The CC Station here WQBT Plays Birthday shhhhh (even though Chase intros it as Birthday sex)when it's played in house, but plays Birthday Sex when it's in a mix or during it's time it's running Premium Choice. They do play Wetter. Actually saying Wetter all the time.

the Cumulus Station WEAS here plays Birthday shhh and Wetter with no wetter in it.

Neither Station Plays Always Strapped with Strapped.

I first heard the Wetter edit on the Russ Parr Morning Show. "YOU DONE DID GOOD BUT YOU COULD DO BETTER I DONE BEEN.... BUT I COULD GET.... COME AND MAKE IT RAIN DOWN ON ME

Horrible edit, but welcome to lazy producers.

Always Strapped - I have only heard this with Strapped in mixshows, kinda weird tho how radio announces it "Birdman & Lil Wayne - Always Strapped" tho.

Birthday Sex is one I hear the edit for more often. Russ Parr plays the edit and so does Premium Choice. WDHT here in Dayton plays the regular sex edit. WDKF is Premium Choice, so they play the uptempo version "Birthday Shh"

This is radio.

You guys are missing my favorite edit of the last 5 years, occuring in 2009:

"Here we go, here we go ******** radio, y'all get hit with the boom boom."

Yes folks, artists cannot use the phrase satellite radio in their own song. It makes too many station owners nervous. What a bunch of nonsense. Talk about heads in the sand....

How Ironic. I'm listening to Birthday ssssssssss right now on the Hip Hop countdown! ..But it's the regular version. I am disappointed that they didn't just keep Hollywood Hamilton instead, but that's a different story. Our top 40 station plays Birthday ssssssss. I believe everyone else just plays the regular.

The Satellite thing in Boom Boom Pow has been going on for a while, which I've discussed two months ago here:
http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=118377.40

They need to concentrate more on Leonia Lewis talking about people cutting her open. It's ok to play in Hospitals though, I guess.

Seriously speaking though, there is a lot worse that's been going on in much music today. It would make more sense if they just played instrumentals of other certain songs rather than bleeping out "sex" in "birthday sex".

And I hate it when they edit out parts of "day 'n' nite". I forgot which parts it was because it was a while since I heard it, but they did do something to it once.

The "Stoner" part is edited out, if that what you were referring to. The only time you would here that part is when the Dance outlets play the Crookers remix.

Yeah, same here in Boston. WJMN plays the dance remix of Birthday Sex and instead of saying sex they go shhh. The "clean" version of this song on itunes does the same, i accidentally bought the clean version and thought blurting out sex made it sound horrible. The radio edit of Wetter I hear on WJMN barely makes any sense they blurt out too many words. I was laughing at how ridiculous some of these radio corporations are when I heard them blurt out satellite radio in boom boom pow haha.

however in day n nite I am pretty sure they say stoner but other than that, WJMN is on the bandwagon of stations that play over-edited versions.
