Song Ids on 102.5 The Party

Has anyone noticed that there is a recorded voice saying the title and artist After every song on The Party? While its nice to know the title and artist, the recorded voice makes it sound like an automated 1970's Top 40 station. It just sounds bad.

Interesting read. I don't know if it was Drake Chenault or some other service, but the small FM radio station I listened to in Emporia, Kansas in 1979-1980 was an automated Top 40. KLRF, Colorful 105. Compared to the larger market stations, it was awful, but had quite a following in Emporia,

I don't listen to the Party. I ditched them after they changed from V-102.5 last summer.

However, I recall a station in west Tennessee that had a voice track similar to what you describe, that gave the title and artist of every song played. This was back in the early '80s. I didn't hear this one myself, but after playing "I Ran (So Far Away) by Flock of Seagulls, the voice supposedly said, "I ran from a flock of seagulls." ;D

According to the latest ratings...it really doesn't matter that they're doing.

Were there ever any "popular" Drake-Chenault stations in this area? If memory serves correctly, I believe WAKQ-FM out of Russelville, KY and WKOS in Murfreesboro (before their re-birth as "96-Kiss") were both DC stations. KQ seemed to be totally automated at the time, while 96-KOS may have been on "live assist" mode.

I did a few weekends at 96-KOS during that period: four reel-to-reel machines
in place for live assist...and you're right, it was a D-C format (I don't know which one).
make back-timing a chore...especially twice an hour into Mutual news. awful.
and the studio was little more than a closet: guess that's why I'm claustrophobic now?

Actually I remember KQ-101 with TM Stereo Rock/All John Borders All The Time.

The Fish is doing that too, with a bass roll-off announcer after each song. If you dont' know the music, it's not a bad thing to do. It doesn't bother me either way, but if you ever want to know the artist, it's there for you. Although it can be redundant if it's already scolling on your radio anyway. (I haven't moved up to 21st Century technology yet...)

But I loved the earlier message about "I ran from a flock of seagulls." There's got to be a dozen more out there like that one!
