Song of the Decade

As the first decade of the 21st century fades, in your opinion, what was the song of the decade? There are have been a lot of songs that have stayed atop the Hot 100 chart for many a week but what song would you crown as #1 for 2000-2009?

"We Belong Together," "Yeah, Yeah Yeah," "Maria, Maria," "Baby Boy" "Boom Boom Pow"? The list goes on......

My vote: Eminem - Lose Yourself

Not based on sales, downloads, or airplay, but rather on it's musical influence and fact that it won't sound dated in five or even ten years: "Crazy"--Knarls Barkley

Mark me down as another one saying "Yeah" by Usher/Ludacris/Lil' Jon. It set a lot of airplay records and still tests great 5 years later. A hip hop song so big, I even heard it on a "Jack" station!

I would put Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" as runner-up. I haven't seen Outkast "Hey Ya!" mentioned yet. I think I would put that somewhere in the top 5.

Though not the biggest, Gnarls Barkley "Crazy" might be the most innovative, critically acclaimed track of the decade.

Ditto for "Yeah."

Interesting to note: The way "Yeah" rocketed up the chart was astounding. It dropped right around the holidays, and was top 10 at Rhythm and Pop before the label promotions staff got their first copy in hand. It was driven by the audience, not hype, and not radio/record people. Between its explosion initially, and its refusal to go away whilst at the top, it's tough to find a bigger record. The only other time I saw a quick climb of that caliber in the last decade was "Over and Over" by Nelly/Tim McGraw.

September-cry for you...............
I think the biggest dance song of this decade was Everytime We Touch, that song started a trend of dance appearing on the CHR charts.

I concure nick.. but since rock and Dance are my favorite genres,, im a bit biased.......

I can't believe everybody has forgotten "How You Remind Me."

That said, there were a lot of forgettable songs between 2002 and 2006. This decade will be remembered like the 1970's.

My top 3:

1- "Yeah" - Usher/Luda/Lil Jon

2- "Hey Ya!" - Outkast

3- "Crazy" - Gnarles Barkley

...and I haven't seen anyone mention "In Da Club" by 50 yet... I think that should be somewhere in the top 10.

"I Gotta Feeling" would be a GREAT song to drop at 11:55 pm on December 31st... sort of a neat way to say goodbye to the "00"'s.

What was the song of the 90s? 80s? Are these songs still memorable to this day? The song of this decade must be something that people will remember decades later, not forget 5 years after its release.

My vote would go to "Hey Ya" by Outkast. This song hooked me, and I'm not a real big top 40 type person.

Everyone should have their opinion...but if that's the best of your favorites (for a decade yet)......"Lose yourself" ...your just a prime example while were losing this country. Or you lost touch with reality. No wonder there's no jobs. Just keep wearing those baggy pants with the cap on backwards ....and wouldn't surprise one bit anymore if you become chairman for a corporation. Now I'm really wondering who I'm conversing with this on these boards.
