Song Question

I know this isn't DIRECTLY related to a station, but maybe someone here that is familiar with the format can help me find this song. It was in the middle of the night on a standards FM in the Albany market - not sure what station it was, as it only lasted a summer. They had deviated from their usual big band swing playlist for a weekend nightime selection of songs, and the only information about this song I have is a brief glimpse from memory.

It was a very sultry, laid back lounge style song, with a male vocal and at least one female backing vocalists, echoing what the male was singing. The ONLY lyrical phrase I can recall is, "When you say that you love me." It was very cheap and obscure sounding; it had a rhythmic beat to it, medium paced, and I would guess the era to be late 60s, early 70s. It was nothing really special; as I said it sounded very cheap but suitable for after-martini lovemaking. Do you have any idea what this might be??

Thanks in advance for racking your brain.

Maybe Josh Groban, Clay Aiken, or Fleetwoord Mac?

GOOGLE has been around for 10 years. It's worth learning the details about using it, well.

Google those lyrics in quotes and put "lyrics" befire that. You'll have 18.5 million hits. I hope you are good at sorting!

Good Luck!

You're Welcome!!

I don't know about the 1976 Fleetwood Mac hit "Say You Love Me" which peaked at #11 on the Billboard chart during the summer. The girl singer is the lead in that one, and "cheap and obscure" sounding doesn't really fit this well produced record. You might want to look into "When You Say Love", a modest pop hit from 1972 by Sonny and Cher. Those two, going back-and-forth was a common thing for them to do.

May I suggest that you go to YouTube.com, type in the song names, and you may be surprised to see a video of it, or a recording with a still picture, or record spinning as it plays. Then you can see if there's a match. If the song titles don't work, search on YouTube by the artists. It may pop up there. Lots of interesting obscure music is posted there. I once wanted to find out what record label a song called "Awaiting On You All" by Silverhorse was on, which would help me in finding it. This was a George Harrison song. I searched for it on YouTube and the whole song popped up as somebody posted it by videotaping his record player spinning it, and there I found that the label was Westbound Records.

Thanks for your "helpful" tip, Prais, but I didn't grow up under a rock. I have spent hours trying to find this song on Google with no luck, and that's why I'm posting here. Same goes for Youtube. I posted this inquiry in this forum hoping to find someone familiar enough with this format to have heard this song before. John, good call on the Sonny & Cher - I listened to it, but that's not it.

"Cheap and obscure sounding" has all the makings of some local record from maybe an artist/group from the Albany area. I've got lots of local records from my neck of the woods, and in the 1960s and 1970s many of them were less then top notch productions. If the station played it, it had to have had some level of popularity when it was new. It's the kind of thing someone could just stumble upon for under $1.00 at a thrift store.

KB, Maybe your "cheap and obsure" is someone elses "master production."

I don't know your taste, or your age, or your knowledge of music.

So, if I see you with a flat tire on the highway, or out of gas in the middle of the desert, I'll just pass you by, smile and wave.

For someone who is so stingy with facts about what you are seeking, you are a bit hard on folks who want to help you. WHO would be silly enough to TRY to help you after your whiney replies?

Kindest Regards
