Song stuttering on a webcast

I'm having a strange problem with my Live365 station. Occasionally the song playing sounds like it's stuttering, as if it's being played on a CD player with tracking issues. First, here are some details about the web cast. All programming originates from my studio in Mesquite, TX. The feed is encoded on the fly to 128k mp3 and sent to my Live365 server in California. On the rare times the stuttering has been lengthy enough for me to check my setup locally, I have found nothing wrong. The song plays fine from my studio but is stuttering while listening to the actual web stream.

I have managed to capture a recording of this stuttering and have uploaded it here:

One other broadcaster at Live365 has informed me he's had the exact same problem. We are both encoding .WAV files to mp3 on the fly, so I wonder if this is something originating during the encoding process. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

R

I bet you are using Newer EdCast?

Original EdCast by Oddsock
3.33.2011.1026
Built on Oct 26 2011

It says Original EdCast in the about section, so that's why I said that's what it was...

I'll ask the other Live365 broadcaster what he's using.

Thanks!

OK the other broadcaster having this issue says he's using the encoder built into SAM. Since I don't use SAM, I don't know much about the encoder.

I just updated to EdCast 3.37.2011.1214

We'll see what happens...

Interesting..
May i ask do both of You use Lame 3.93.1 dll?

I'm using 3.99.5

Updating the EdCast program, as previously noted, didn't resolve the issue either.

Not sure if this is related, but I rebooted my cable modem early this morning and have yet to hear the stuttering problem. It was becoming quite frequent before the reboot.

Another update... The stuttering has now been heard on four different stations on Live365 (including mine). The Live365 tech folks are looking into it.

I wonder what is it then, since it also happens to me on my dedicated server with shoutcast 1.9.8.
I still think problem is not server side.

We're using Edcast Standalone to feed a stream at SecureNet Systems and occasionally get an overlapping stuttering effect. I figured it was DSL retrains on the studio internet connection that were causing the problem.

FYI Maybe try the newest version of Edcast now known as Altacast and is also free and located at altacast dot com and see if it was indeed the older Edcast version.

Norton AV says this program is not safe and deletes it.
