Song Titles Whose Lyrics Start with "And"

You may have heard of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. They were popular singers in the 1950s-60s-70s. They each recorded My Way. which was written by Paul Anka, another popular singer in the 1950s-60s-70s. The song begins, "And now the end is near, and so I face the final curtain..."

(Yes, I know Sinatra was also popular in the 1940s and 1980s but those decades didn't work with the silly comparison I was making.)

I thought it was well enough known/played to friggin' death that I didn't need to mention the title.

Yes, but you didn't say if you've ever heard of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.

Here, try these:

Hold Your Head Up by Argent: "And if it's bad..."
My Love by Paul McCartney: "And when I go away..."
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway by Genesis: "And the lamb lies down on Broadway..."

Who hasn't? Both artists had numerous chart hits and have quite a few holiday songs that get played this time of year.

Mister Bass, to steal a line from Charlie Brown: "Don't you know sarcasm when you hear it?" ;)

Here are two more songs with lyrics that begin with "And":

Closer to the Heart by Rush: "And the men who hold high places..."
Mrs. Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel: "And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson..."

Have you ever heard of Sim.........oh, never mind.

Sorry but that didn't sound like sarcasm to me.

I have to confess that I got only a C-minus in my sarcasm class in high school. But let's move on...here is another song beginning with "And":

Dance With Me by Janis Ian: "And when the war was over, I went dancing in the streets, with the corpse of my dead brother, to the sacrificial beat..."

Not exactly the feel-good song of 1974!

Doesn't that give Rod Argent a twofer?

On an unrelated note, I think The Beatles "And I Love Her" deserves honorable mention.

"And I Love Her"? What about "And Your Bird Can Sing" (from Revolver [U.K.]/Yesterday and Today [U.S.])?
