Songs from new albums that should be released as singles

Lifehouse-Dissarray-From their new album Who We Are-This song blew me away once I first heard it! It's amazing

Kelly Clarkson-Don't Waste Your Time-Really Good

Maroon 5-Can't Stop-Amazing Song

None of them will be a hit on CHR.
The Kelly Clarkson song could have been a Top 10 hit... in 1982 ::) Could get some decent airplay in small market CHRs and Hot A/Cs.
The Maroon 5 song starts out good, but just ends up being a decent album cut.
The Lifehouse record doesn't even sound all that great for Hot A/C, but might be decent for Christian CHR.

If you like these songs that's great but I don't see them blowing up in 2007.

I believe that CHR doesn't give Lifehouse much credit. They've had good hits throughout the years that were barely played. In 2005, Blind should have been a hit but everyone ignored it. In 2001 Breathing should have done at least something, but it didn't. I think it's about time that CHR gave them a chance as well as other bands/artists. Jason Mraz for instance is NEVER given a chance his hit Geek In The Pink went nowhere as well as 2003's You & I Both. Outkast's last album from 2006 didn't even get airplay. They should have looked through each song on that album and found one to be a potential hit. They don't give certain artist's a chance they only give artists like: Rihanna,Diddy, any R&B or Hip Hop artist a chance or any sell out rock group ie: Fall Out Boy,Nickelback which I do love but they're always being played they need to give other great artists chances.

Lifehouse's "You And Me" and "Hangin By A Moment" were big CHR hits. Jason Mraz's "The Remedy" faired well on CHR.
One of my favorite Jason Mraz records was never a hit here. Check out "Life is Wonderful"

It's up to the labels usually to find and promote the records that they feel radio will pick up on so don't twist things around.
There are so many Hip Hop and R&B acts that don't get a chance on CHR radio so don't make generalizations. It's just that there's an abundance of Rhythmic leaning pop records that fit CHR radio in 2007.
People like you just never seem to get it when new sounds come around like Beyonce's "Check On It" or Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous". You're always looking for that annoying hard it a million times before middle of the road sound. You know, the type played on Hot A/Cs in small towns in the Midwest and the South...
As for Nickleback, I may not be the greatest fan of some of their songs either but they're one of the few bands that can still millions and millions of albums (6 million for their latest album). A big part of their buying base is the CHR audience if I'm not mistaken.

As for Maroon 5's "Won't Go Home Without You" it's definitely not bad, and grows on you after a couple of listens. Notice though that music-wise it kind of rips off the Police's "Every Breath You Take" :D

Just going through a few...
Rihanna - Breakin' Dishes, likely next single.
Christina Aguilera - Slow Down Baby, WHAT is she waiting for? This has summer hit written all over it.
JoJo - This Time, good song much better than the past few singles she has been releasing.
Ashlee Simpson - Beautifully Broken, probably the only chance for another #1 and she blew it.
Danity Kane - One Shot, huge dance song but that is the Bad Boy flowchart, release two singles and you are gone.
Ciara - My Love, and it better be next single. I read somewhere it was.
Ciara - Hotline, could have been a killer dance hit.

Why weren't these hits?
Christina Milian - Say I, This song was a single--it was doing damn well until she got dropped from DJ, then EVERY radio station took it down.
Jessica Simpson - I Belong To Me, WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?
Paris Hilton - Nothing in This World, I have no idea why this wasn't a hit. Yes, it is a Paris song, so what, it works. Of course (be honest) it didn't get airplay because simply put, it's a Paris song.

But CHRles is right, I'd say 90% of the time the record companies pick the right ones for important reasons.

The Christina Milan record was good but timing is everything, you know?
Looks like Rihanna will be on CHR all year long as "Breakin Dishes" is definitely another hot one.
The Christina record is very good, sounds a lot like Joss Stone. Her vocal talents are in the forefront on this one, where they should be. I'm guessing the record label is waiting to see when would be a good time to release it, or they may first test it on Rhythmic A/C and Hot A/C.
Not sure about any of the other records. 18-34 females definitely want more then a steady diet of teen pop leaning acts like Jessica and ashlee Simpson, Danity Kane, and Jojo.

As for those compaining about lack of Rock on CHR - look how well "Hey There Delilah Is Doing". You could tell a couple of months back that it had great potential to hit big, and it did. Why? Timing! If the market was flooded with accoustic Pop/Rock ballads by young bands things might have been different, but the song and the band were gaining momentum and a buzz, Modern Rock radio picked up on it, and the song fits well for this time of the year. Whether you're a kid done with school or college, or you're just a girl whose spending some time away from her b/f (whether it's a day, a week, or more). The song has a good hook, is relateable to the CHR audience, and is well timed.

"Hey There Delilah" makes me wonder why Rise Against's "Swing Life Away" was not a CHR hit, since they sound dead similar. Then again that was fall 2005... I'm sure if it were released now CHR would be jumping on it as well. PLT also had the benefit of a dedicated "Add Me" generation fanbase long before "Hey There Delilah" was even played once as well.

And timing is definitely important, but the Milian record was definitely a summer sounding song. Stations were blazing it until Def Jam said "She's dropped from the label." Then it just feel like a ton of bricks.

But have no recurrent value, although Hanging By a Moment is a big Hot AC gold/recurrent

Doubt it. I'm fairly certain that "Hate That I Love You," her record with NeYo, is next.
