Songs on CHR you like

What songs on CHR radio do you like?

I'm not a CHR listener, I'm more of an Active Rock listener, but I really like the song "Give Your Heart a Break" by Demi Lovato.

If you look at the playlist for the last several Now That's What I Call Music albums, that would give you an idea of the CHR music I like. ;)

Bieber's "As Long As You Love Me" isn't bad and I find it growing on me. I still like "I Won't Give Up" for its positive message. The jury is still out on "Hello" by Karmin

There are two I really like right now. Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" and David Guetta's "Titanium." Titanium is honestly an impressive song on CHR radio, done very well indeed.

All of Adele's singles. She has a beautiful, rich voice. I can't stand rap single after rap single, so this is way different than that!

That's how a real dance record is done.

At first I thought it was chick singing

Katy Perry, Adele, Karmin

I once thought a chick sang "gotta get thru this" by Daniel Beddingfield. If only UKG were more successful in the states!

I like "Primadonna Girl" by Marina & The Diamonds and "Gangnam Style" by PSY. The people with cool chr's in their towns know what I'm talking about! :p

Growing up with west coast freestyle and electro-breaks throughout my childhood years, of course I also like "Hello" by Karmin as well. I guess nowadays people will just call it "pop" being that no one knows real genre names anymore.

I'm sure I've lost a lot of folks with this post.

There are some songs lately on this list that interestingly enough hit the Top 40 I actually liked. Some I first heard on Indie, AAA, and Alternative Rock stations prior to their Top 40 appearance. I'll also throw in a few throwback joints:

- "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz
- "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers
- Fun's "We Are Young" and "Some Nights" (the amended full version, not the shortened radio edit)
- "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities
- Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song", "It Will Rain" (I'm not a Twi-hard, but it's a great song), and "When I Was Your Man".
- "Home" by Phillip Phillips
- "I Will Wait" by Mumford & Sons
- "Rocketeer" by Far East Movement
- "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye & Kimbra
- "Tongue Tied" by Grouplove (I REALLY wish KHKS 106.1 Kiss FM and any other CHR station in DFW would play that song, seeing that it aired on 102.7 KIIS-FM).
- "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons
- "Suit & Tie" by Justin Timberlake feat. Jay-Z (I'm not a huge *NSYNC and Justin Timberlake fan, but this song has been growing on me now)
- "Rumour Has It" by Adele
- "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin') by T-Pain
- "Lighters" by Bad Meets Evil feat. Bruno Mars
- "Intergalactic" by Beastie Boys
- Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger", "Payphone", "Misery", and "Makes Me Wonder"
- "Adorn" by Miguel

There are many others I've forgotten, but I'll list them shortly.

I quickly grew to dislike "gangnam style." But I do like "turn up the love" by Far East Movement ft Cover Drive. There are a few new things I like, which I'll post later when I have more time.

At the moment:

Calvin Harris - Sweet Nothing
Will.I.Am / Britney - Scream & Shout
Imagine Dragons - It's Time
Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath
Pitbull / Christina - Feel This Moment
Olly Murs / Flo - Troublemaker
Ne-Yo - Forever Now
Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child
Krewella - Alive
Icona Pop - I Love It

I wonder why you don't like Cumulus CHRs... ::)

Current CHR songs I've been enjoying are:

fun.- Carry On
Olly Murs- Troublemaker ft. Flo Rida
Mackelmore- Can't Hold Us ft. Ryan Lewis
Pitbull- Feel This Moment ft Christiana Aguilera
Goo Goo Dolls- Rebel Beat

Of course my local CHR is a Cumulus station so I have only heard Carry On, Troublemaker and Feel This Moment. Yet to hear Can't Hold Us or Rebel Beat. Luckily the local Hot AC plays Rebel Beat. When WJBQ was owned by Citadel it was all over the rock songs now not so much.

Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks is good.
Olly Murs - Troublemaker (fine but Flo Rida gets on my nerves a little bit)
Justin Timberlake - Suit and Tie (OK but I don't really like Jay Z rapping, why is that needed? Every station I know except KHOP/Modesto doesn't take out the Jay Z)

Same reason Wiz Khalifa was needed in Payphone, and Snoop Dogg was needed in California Girls - to get creds on more rhythmic stations

Notice it's always the LEAD SINGLE that gets a rapper randomly cut into it

I wonder why artists still use the random rapper...it was ok in 2005 when Urban and Rhythmic was all the rage...it is pretty pointless in 2013.

Olly Murs' "Troublemaker is an OK hit. Though I gotta admit, when I first heard it, I thought it was another Maroon 5 song (with a beat almost reminiscent to "Misery").
